Hi ,

For my birthday treat in August i'm off dolphin watching ( on a boat ) with family and boyfriend to New Quay. But the boat trip only last 2 hours so was wondering if anyone can recommended any other activities , attractions , places to eat etc in that sort of area?

Thanks , Kate

How long are you in the area?

Newquay (the one in Cornwall?) is absolutely heaving with tourists in the summer!

Newquay is great. Theres beautiful beaches to play on great scenery for walks, old tin mines to explore, lots of shops and touristy nick nack places. Theres also places like flambards and the eden project in cornwall. Depends how much you want to do/spend and the time you wish to spend there.

There's a watersports centre in New Quay that you can hire kayaks from, they also do sailing and windsurfing. If you've got a vehicle, just a bit out of New Quay there is a Bee exhibition, it's only a couple of quid and you can see all different types of bee hive and they have leaf cutter ants. There are lots of nice walks, with cliffs and caves but if the weather stays like it has been recently... :(

i think folk are getting newquay (cornwall) and new Quay (wales) muddled up!!!! The only water life you will see in newquay will be surfers!!!

well you were very lucky then JG!!! we are on that coast on the boat  almost every week of the year. inshore and offshore wrecks and diving, and have seen many sharks, even a rare sunfish and lots of seals but dolphins only the once in over 30 years.

We considered ourselves to be very privileged too, but sightings aren't unheard-of.
