Any good or bad experiences.

Thanks
C.

BAD

Ours must have had every single part replaced so its almost a new washer. Alot of my clothes cant be tumble dried anyway (i think its only towels and bedding that can really) , but you have to empty half of it out or it will over heat and click click click. I dont recommend them and thier bad for the environment too.

bad here as well, LOL

only had one washer dryer combined and it was terrible, it was forever breaking down and eventually when drying a load smoke started bellowing out.  Would never have a combined one again.

i have one of these mini dryers now got it second hand its an old one but it works great only i have no room for it so its under the stairs and i can never be bothered to pull it out to use it,

BAD!

Worst buy I ever had.  Needed to run for 3 days to dry anything.  Okay, exaggerating a bit.  But haven't the space for both (all available space taken up for dog stuff!)  :-)

To be honest, now I have a washer that is excellent- it's a Bosch and the best I ever had.  It has spin speeds of anything from 400rpm to 1600rpm and stuff comes out so dry that a few hours on a clothes airer and bingo!

And saves on electric bill too.

No experience because i can't see the point in them !
Get a washing machine with a high spin rate and you will be half-way to dry clothes !  I line dry mine ( when possible ) and finish off in the dryer for a softer finish .

I need one because I don't have space for a separate tumble dryer.   I always dry stuff outside or indoors on airers, but I need the dryer bit for emergencies or just to finish off airing clothes.  I never use the dryer to dry stuff from wet. I currently have an Ariston Washer Dryer, about 10 years old now, and fading fast!!

I just wondered if the newer machines would be better at drying now, considering mines ancient!  To be honest I would hardly use the dryer part.

The combined ones are not that great.  If you think what you are trying to make a machine due you can understand it's troubles. You fill it with water then try and use it as a drier.  It dries through the condensing process which I personally think does more harm to you clothes that the traditional types.   They are more expensive to run and can only do half loads.

I personally would try and find the space for the drier, if it is occasional use I would even put it in a cupboard or something similar. If it is for more daily use I would MAKE it fit :-)

BAD again - I have an AEG Lavamat Turbo. OK for pants & bra, for the rest I dont bother, takes too long & you can't do the next wash whilst you're waiting. For dogs stuff I have ageing Whirlpool top loader washer & seperate dryer. Always been fantastic & efficient. What a godsend for large bits of vetbed & big dog towels. Downside is expensive to run dryer but no way would I be without them in the winter.

bad all BADDDDDDDDDDD my advice is steer clear of a combined washer dryer, from an experienced owner, hotpoint was never away from our machine, it was eventually condemmed after only 2 years & was replaced by seperate machines that have been going strong now for 10 years & hotpoint only been twice in the 10 years to fix the washer

Washer/Dryer... Sounds like an oxymoron to me  I just don't see how they can work?? And judging by the replies, they don't!
My friend has her dryer in her bedroom, which has the added bonus of her room always smelling fresh and clean.Try and find a small corner somewhere, walk in robe maybe, and store it there.

Im afraid Ive parted with my washer drier useless. My kids have one in a new flat badddd, Ive got them a pulley maid so the wash, spin hang it up over the stairs and iron. Its ok for  a quick little wash but they cannot handle a decent wash.

Too Late!!  Already got one!!

Bought a Zanussi with a 1600 spin, washing comes out so dry I don't think I shall hardly ever use the dryer part.  I really prefer to dry outside anyway. Just need the dryer for emergencies.

Thanks for all your comments though.   Fingers crossed it'll be a good 'un.

I have had a Zanussi washer/dryer for 5 years.  It has been great.  I don't often use the dryer and it does take longer then a conventional one, but it is good to have it there when needed.
