The puppy is bottle fed on Lactol but, fails to pick up.  Do u think she ever will?  She does not go for the bottle and sometimes we feed her drop by drop.  Has anyone had a puppy that has lasted this long and not picked up???

Yes, but unfortunately it became obvious that I shouldn't go on trying, and I asked vet to PTS.

Yes I had it with this litter I have now though she did drink from mom herself,is your baby able to drink off mom?
Is she putting on any weight at all,we weigh in grams so I can keep a close eye on the slightest drop in weight.
She would only put a few grams on a day, seemed well in herself just dinky.
I worried myself silly but now she is like a stick of dynamite at 6 weeks old, just a bit smaller
but it was when we started weaning that we saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Good luck and I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.

ive had this in one litter and it went on the be a monster pup and full of vigour, but in another litter I wished I hadnt as it was never right and always sickly for rest of life :( Hard decision!

yes, me too and sadly she died at 3 weeks, i tried in vain, feeding every 2 hrs and although stronger she never grew AT ALL, i knew in my heart that she wasnt meant to be but felt i had to try. Another i knew wasnt right and i made the hard choice to let him go as it was likely that he could be a very sickly puppy when older (which has been said on here already) so i decided to pts, but an extremely hard decision to make. :(

I have Puglet, who did not put on weight until she was 4 weeks old, when she "zoomed up" from just under 3 oz to 4 oz!  4 oz at 4 weeks is still a very small pup.  I do feel she was worth all the effort, and would not part with her for the world, but she is not what everyone would consider a pug should be!  She is 8 years old now, and strangely, having had allsorts of birth defects and near death experiences when tiny she has only had 2 vets visits due to a problem (both  just a cough,  but have ot take gret care with her) in the last 7 years.

Hi, I had this problem with one of my litters, I was feeding them whelpi every two hours and no weight gain, which really stressed me out, I then phoned the vets and swopped my milk for royal canine, the pups gained weight almost before my eyes. So if I was you I wouldn't give up, the pup sounds like a real fighter just change your milk asap!! Also with regard to taking a few drops of milk at a time, I usually find that they do that if they are constipated so make sure you are stimulating them until you see something being passed.

Good luck Susan
