Variety is the spice of life, so they say! Feed as many different species as you can - beef, lamb, chicken, deer, pork, ostrich, fish (particularly oily fish), eggs, some offal, small amount fruit/veg (especially leafy greens), although a lot of raw feeders don't feed fruit/veg at all. The list is endless really. Best avoiding weight bearing bones other than for recreational purposes due to possible tooth damage, but things such as lamb ribs/necks are good. A lot of people feed chicken wings and carcasses.

I don't mince my own foods, so can't help on that front I'm afraid.

I buy minced Tripe, Lamb, chicken 1lb per dog daily (I have GSD's)
Chicken Carcasses x2 per dog per day
Chicken Wings & Necks x6 per dog per day
Offal :- Liver, Lambs Hearts - 1/4 heart & liver twice a week per dog
Veg - pureed (usually Carrot, broccolli & Cauliflower) one teaspoon per dog twice a week
Fish - Tuna, Salmon, white fish & Mackerl one portion once a week
Eggs - x2 per dog per week
Teaspoon of oil per dog per day mixed in with the minced meat

This is just a general weekly menu but it does vary - they can also have yogurt, baked beans...cooked meat scraps - I like to give a variety
Hope this helps

Hi, I got my mincer last year in the sale from northern tools here. http://www.northerntooluk.com/products.asp?partno=168620E It copes with all meat and will even do chicken wings if you give them a good bashing first! its brilliant, and gives piece of mind knowing that the meat to bone ratio is sufficient. I have a bag of soft lamb rib bones that i smash up and mince if doing straight meat, or just add egg shell. Of course like most mincers it says not for bone but it copes fine!

Just for curiosity....why so little veg? A teaspoon twice a week seems like such a small amount to be useful.

I feed my flattie (28kg) about 100g of pulped veg each morning with his mince - I got this amount from one of the books on raw feeding as a percentage of his weight. He loves it and copes with it really well - no runny poos, in fact it tends to be a bit on the hard side!

As someone said variety is the spice of life but there are certain meats that are better for dogs than others, chicken and lamb are the easiest for dogs to digest and it is always good to give a fair amount of bones so chicken wings make a great meal as they have the correct ratio of bone/meat/fat.  Lamb breast is also good.  I hardly feed mince meat by itself, but if they do get minced meat they get the bones minced and included.  I also feed a portion of fruit/veg pulped each day.  Offal shouldn't be fed in large quantities, I read I think in a book by Ian Billinghurst, that if you take an animal that has been killed for prey, then the stomach contents are usually eaten first (digested veg), and if you take the whole animal, meat/bone/offal/fat etc that is the ratio you need to feed your dogs. (hope that is not too confusing).

If I was you I would definitley buy Ian Billinghursts books, they make excellent reference books and will give you the correct proportion of vitamins etc to add, also what veg, fruit, garlic, yoghurt, cottage cheese etc and which oils should be added.

If your dog is putting on too much weight then cut down on the meat/bone and up the veg and vice versa if they need to put weight on.
