Topic Dog Boards / Health / Poo Question

Last Wedndesday my 7 month old pup had yellow mucus in his stool and quite a bit of it. His first poo was OK, but then within half an hour he'd had this one.

I made an appointment at the vets and took him in straight away. He gave him the all clear and said that he'd probably eaten something horrible whilst out.

Since then he's only had one more poo with yellow mucus in, but now some of his stools are grey and porridge like (some are normal). Kind of cement coloured and yesterday when we were out on our walk he had a VERY runny yellow poo and a rather large peice of bone came out with it!!! He's fed RMB and I'm now worried this isn't agreeing with him, although he did wolf down his chicken leg breakfast very quickly so this may have been the cause.

He's perfectly fine within himself. Has a great appetite, drinking well and is bounding round the garden as I type.

Am I doing something wrong with his diet? Or is he just still clearing out what ever it was that he ate last week? Or am I just worrying too much?

Thanks all, any help or advice greatly appreciated.

an addition...

Next to the one of his poos on that day was a 'thing'. It was about 1cm long and pale grey in colour and looked similar to a slug in consistency I suppose. It wasn't in the poo, but it was next to it. I told the vet about this and he thinks that it was already on the grass, which is quite possible.

But I've just cleaned up the garden this morning and there was another one of these things next to his poo again?? Coincidence?? I've looked around the garden and I can't see any more of these things. I know they are quite small, but I'm really worried they are coming out of him??? Has anyone seen anything like this before?

If I don't clear up poos quickly I often find slugs heading for them. Yuck! I hate slugs anyway, and slugs that like poo are particularly vile!

don't worry about this, when i clear up the poo theirs always these little grey slug things. they must like poo, what lovely creatures.
As for your pup having funny poo just keep and eye on him but if he's well in himself thats a good sign. make sure he has plenty of fluids to help flush his system out and keep him re-hydrated.
i always feed my dogs  rice and cooked chicken when they have bad tummies and this seems to settle everything in a couple of days.

forgot to say in last post, go back to the vet in a few days if at all worried. better to be safe than sorry but i'm sure he'll be fine by then anyway.

Thank you sooooo much!! I feel like such a worry wort!!! It was a little far fetched that these grey slug things were coming out of him I must admit, but you just never know! I do now feel a little silly!! (Blush).

He is absolutely fine in himself. He's had a wonderful walk this morning and played with the other dogs in the park... with gusto I might add!! And has spent the rest of the day being quite lazy... has now livened up though and is pushing a toy into my leg as I type!!

I think I'll put him on chicken and rice as JG suggested, hopefully this will sort him out. The vet assured me he's fine, so I shouldn't worry... you can't help it sometimes can you?!?!

Thanks again
