Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Ouch SKC entry!
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 17.07.09 08:30 UTC
Just done my SKC entry - £71 in total for 2 dogs!
Ok so I have entered in the YKC & pup stakes and got a catalouge but woweeeee my purse is starting to feel the pinch! Plus it'll be the usual £4 on the gate parking.......oh and of course those delicious crapes that were on sale! yummy!

Anybody else considering cutting out extra classes or infact a show all together due to the prices?

lol.. I was looking at my schedules last night.. SKC being one of them... plus Darlington, Driffield and Midland Counties.. plus a couple of Breed Club ch shows.. in all.. I worked it out that within the next 7 weeks... I will have spent over £600 in entry fees inc cat. etc.. plus.. most of these shows are minimum 250miles round trip.. so at least £60fuel per show.. Gulp.. :-O

Purse definetly lighter and that was missing out on Border Union, Blackpool, Leeds, E of E, and quite few others as well.  Always make sure that I enter online before the postal closing date so as not to have to pay the extra £2 they are adding on. Now trying to decide if I really need to do both Darlington and Driffield, entered Belfast only because I used the tesco clubcard points to pay for the ferry.  :)

I wont tell you all the things that I have saved on since I stopped 'giving' my money away.

I did Border Union, Blackpool and Leeds.. but not E fo E.. I really do not want to go back and work out how much I have spent in the last 2 months... Scary stuff

I have cut back alot this year I'm going to 12 or 13 champ shows this year (including breed club ones) there must people 22 or 23 sets of tickets in my breed. So far I've been to 7 champ shows this year and I have one tomorrow which is a breed club. My partner and I are saving for a house so something has give! I used to go alot more champ shows and travelled all over, the shows I'm least likely to go to are the long distance ones up north, Scotland etc due to time off, fuel cost, accomodation etc. :)

I entered a show on-line the other day and only realised last night that it was the wrong show  Hides head in shame. I had been talking to someone and we were discussing a few shows and I just didn't realise what I was doing. I've since entered the correct show but it still means I'm out of pocket this week :-( I've only been to one show this year so far (with dogs) and my 2nd show will be tomorrow, so I haven't spent too much this year. I think I have spent about £200 this past fortnight on shows now. No more Champ shows this year I think.

It costs us a fortune to go to Champ shows also, being so far north, our nearest is SKC at 6hrs round trip!
We have entered SKC, Darlington, will do W&P of Scotland, if I ever find out who the judge is!
We do roughly 7 champ shows a year, and and 3 breed shows.
