Is it acceptable for teenagers to attack a baby gull? Ive just got back from the vets as i had to rescue it as a bunch of  %$*# chased and threw a sand bag on top of it to squash it. I really am disgusted i can't believe How evil some children can be. Its poor mum was going wild. Had they not have run off i may have given them a taste of karma.

Parents, Parents, Parents, where are they?

They need to get their children back under their supervision, into clubs, into hobbies or just plain in your house and garden, take them out themselves, show an interest! Play cricket, football, basketball do art with them, go on bike rides, (Just do something with them) keep the little blighters off the streets wandering around getting up to mishchief and the world will instantly be a better place.

my friens called the police and when i was speaking to them, they said there is now a question they need to ask in violent reported cases, which is have they ever injured or harmed an animal before so they can establish if it is a one off or a natural progression from animals to people.

To be honest, I thought that criminologists and psychiatrists had already established the link to that many years ago, seems a bit late to question now, trouble is, what have they done with that knowledge?  Nothing!!! :-(

The only answer is that animal cruelty needs to be taken more seriously, not just for the animals sake but for future violent crimes. There is enough CCTV and people with mobiles today to get these culprits photo's out and then to find some therapy and a good old fine for the man power needed to catch these perps.

yes your right criminologists have however the police have not used it. it would just be a note on the file so i think they could have an overall view of the individual.

i know a lot of people will think what is the problem its only a gull but it is still an animal that has nerve endings and pain receptors and they know it is inflicting pain.

I doubt anyone on here thinks that mahonc, animal cruelty is animal cruelty as a nation we are more likely to feel upset for animals more so than human cruelty, the problem is we've been made powerless and the media have made us afraid to do anything about it if we were to happen across a group of youngsters doing it, our first thoughts would be do they have a weapon? The police may well tut, tut at such a call coming in, not because they think it is nothing, but because they think what is the point nothing will happen to the perps.

There is so much red tape and the feeling of no power over anything any more that people seeing things like that may well just turn the other cheek and walk away.  Glad that you didn't and phoned it in.  This country has got too soft and the saddest thing about it is, the people don't want it this way, but don't shout loud enough about it, well unless it is one of the Queens swans then it is a prison sentence.
