hi there ,
its the 1st day that tilly has let me take her temp!! i was just wondering your thoughts on labour starting soon?
in the book of bitch it say's go off temp off 100f rather than 101f? so she is 98f.
is this correct? i will continue to monitor her all day and sleep with her tonight there has been no apparent signs off giving birth though her vulva looks huge this morning!
thanks for your help kelly xx
hi kelly ,1st of all good luck with the new little 1s when they get here :) ....her temp could go back up though out the day then go back down , could be like that for a few days yet or she could go into whelp over the next few hours its hard to say ,my girls last litter wasnt text book (well most arnt lol) ...she didnt rip up anything she didnt shake she only lost a very small amount of gunk from vulva but kept herself very clean ,i just knew she was starting (got that gut feeling ) as we do with our dogs ,the only thing she did was keep getting up onto the settee and didnt want to get off to go out or eat and drink ,im sure you will know when the time comes ,just dont leave her at all now xx

hi there,
i took her temp again and its dropped to 97 showing no signs apart from wanting to be by my side all day!
i was just wondering if things will happen today? its killing me waiting:-) just hope things hurry along for her bless her feel sorry for her as i know what's ahead1!
thanks kellyx

my dogs temp dropped to 36.9 then went back up she had the pups about 30 hours after drop, think they say that when it drops expect te pups anything upto48 hours, my dog didnt dig or do much so just keep a close eye on her, good luck with the new arrivals

hi there,
well stayed with tilly all night last nite lots of pacing around but nothing apart from feeling tired lol !
took temp today gone back up to 36.8 so who know's what will happen next!!!!!!!!!!!!
watch this space! thanks kelly x

This is why I don't bother with taking temperatures!

hello, well still nothing has happened so much for taking temperature's!! she's been digging and sleeping alot but nothing else a little mucus from vulva but that's it lol
hopefully these little babies will get a move on! x

I know a lot of people believe in temp taking, but my vet told me it's a waste of time.....I've done it a couple of times, didn't find it at all reliable.

Taking temperature has always give me advance warning that things were on the move.

I've never found temps to be of any use either. Last time but one I did it 3 times a day and the bitch still took me by surprise (well as far as the temp goes, otherwise it was expected of course).

I'll close this now as your question about temperature taking has been answered. Good luck with your impending litter - hope it all goes well.
