I've got another thread re removal companies below and I thought we had it just about sorted (not very satisfactorily) then we had a quote through I'd been waiting for.  Trouble was I'd already accepted over the phone for one that I wasn't sure about.  I'd had to make a decision early as we'd had such short notice to find a company and move house.

I phoned to cancel the first company before they'd received any payment from us nor given us any service (apart from booking the slot next week) and didn't I get a rollocking.... I was almost in tears.  The boss man rang me up and I won't go into detail but he was so incredibly rude... I'd never been spoken to like that.  I understand it's messing them around but to be so rude surely isn't necessary?  He then rang back later to say we should pay £50 for cancelling, well he got my husband which he wasn't expecting.  He threatened court action and everything... I'm totally aghast!

Well if they didn't state when you did the booking that if you cancelled it would cost you 50 quid,then it won't.I know it's embarrassing to have to cancel these things and face the music,but sometimes that's what you have to do.He's probably on some removals forum letting off steam right now,so don't worry about it.You've got enough to think about.
