looking for help, sympathy advice anything really.  One of my girls is due to whelp in the next 2 weeks, she was scanned 3 weeks ago and vet said 2 pups  (never been wrong before) but her size is huge, she is going for another scan this friday on vets advice but wonder if I could be looking at complications what do you think.  On her last litter she hardly put on any weight and was very picky at food now I cant fill her, she is having 3 good meals a day plus whelpi to drink.  any advice, thoughts are welcome

A second litter very often makes the bitch look much bigger than the previous time even if the number of pups is the same or less. Plus of course, so many scans are wrong as far as numbers go- my best to date is the one where the vet said one or two pups and ten were born. :)

As said, the second litter does ruin the figuar a little always looks bigger. But!! may be more pups than was thought!! Scans can be wrong!!

i had a scan which said 1 and the bitch had 8, another which said no puppies and she 2.

also you said still has 2 weeks to and is having 3 good meals plus whelpie and that last time she didnt really eat,  could it just be that she is having a lot more food than usual ?  if this is the case be carefull as over weight bitches find it harder to give birth.

hopfully your next scan will give you the answers.   good luck either way !

hello

i am just a bit confused,  2 days ago you said your bitch was due in 2 weeks, now you are saying your vet said they could come anytime.

when are they actualy due,   cause i would be very worried if they came now and she is not due for nearly another 2 weeks.

defo not due for 2 weeks(day 63) but vet said good size for such a little dog, milk flowing well so cold come anyday, she is fine in herself Just think he wanted me to keep a closer eye on her which I would do anyway

They could be born a week before so that's not long.  My friend had her dog scanned and told there was none she ended up with 5.

hi there,
im experiencing the same thing i have a dog thats usually around 25-6kg she is 59 days at the momment.
she had a scan at 5 wks where the vet said he could see 3? but she's so big i find that hard to believe!

my friend had puppie's a little while back and the vet scanned and said there were 4 but in fact there were 10!
my dog hopefully gonna start her labour soon as she has a temp now of 97! but showing no other obvious signs bless her i'm sooooooooo excited.

kelly x
