What is the rule for showing under your breeder, my understaning is that as long as the sale of the dog was over a year then it is okay,, Some dogs have been used quite a lot and precluding them from being shown under breeder could mean that you were unable to show at several shows per year..

My understanding has always been that you just don't show under the breeder of your dog!  Ever!

But of course, I could be wrong!

I thought that you weren't allowed to show under a breeder anymore and I must say I never would, just don't think it's ethical myself.  Though saying that if they were a really good breeder then they should be able to throw out one they've bred if it isn't the best in the class.

You cannot show under your dogs breeder unless they were appointed in an emergency as a last minute replacement. The 'one year rule' would only apply if your dog had been boarded by the judge or prepared for show by the judge.

Agree with Margot and Dyane.. never show under your breeder.. its not ethical,

but, you can show under the owner of the stud dog used.. chances are, they dont know you from Adam, since its the breeder who vets and homes pups, and more often than not, the stud owner is a few hundred miles away.. has never met you

I have had a son from my Hunter under me..I didnt know it until I was given my completed catalogue after my Judging..

The rule was changed. It USED to be you could show under your dog's breeder if x amount of time had gone past, this is no longer possible. When my oldest bitch's breeder was picked to judge the breed at Crufts 2006 she sent out a letter to all her puppy buyers explaining and apologising -it was the first time we had tickets.

the rules changed some years ago, until then you are correct it was a year, now you can never show under the breed under UK KC rules.

Are you talking about the breeder or stud dog owner?

It's unethical to show under the breeder, I would hope that a breeder would put what they breed first otherwise abit of a contridiction really isn't it, if you don't like what you breed.....

Showing under a stud dog owner is allowed and to be honest regually done in alot of smaller gene pool breeds.

>unable to show at several shows per year..

But judges shouldn't really be judging in a similar area multipul times a year.  Most judges only judge a breed every 18 months (champ shows) and 12 months (open shows)

Any one who breeds, boards or handles your dog is not permitted to judge your dog.
Breeder rule stands for ever - handler or boarder rule is for 12 months.

Some dogs have been used quite a lot and precluding them

A dog being used a stud is not the breeder though.  You can go under the stud dog owner no problem just NOT the actual breeder of the dog.
