At Windsor yesterday with the temp at 81 oC there were still many many calls for dogs in cars.
I just cant belive this is still happening.
The Great Dane judge even stopped the judgeing until all Great Danes were removed from cars. He recieved a round of cheers and clapping at this.
Although the Dane people were not the only people by far to do to.
There was even a call for my breed,  (2 young Newfs left in a van).
I was sickerned to hear this is still going on. There is NEVER  a good reason to leave a dog in a car on a warm day never mind on a hot one.
These people should be ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It still sickens me when I hear stories like these, why the KC cannot enforce a lifetime showing ban on people who leave dogs in cars at showgrounds I will never understand. There really is no excuse.

I too was at Windsor yesterday and cannot believe that people still think its O.K to leave dogs in cars. My suggestion would be for it to be compulsory to put your car reg on your entry form. I realise that this would not be completley foolproof, cos of people sharing lifts or using a different car, but think it could go some way of stopping this behaviour. So this way at least the dog show / kennel club could name and shame these people.

I was once tannoyed for by name at Leeds Championship show about the very stressed dogs in my car. I went straight to my car to find two police officers & the RSPCA & some bloke from the show around my car, trying to gain entry-the alarm was going off etc This really annoyed me & I had to really fight to keep calm, you see my dogs were over 50 miles away at home(except for the two we had entered at the show). I asked the RSPCA Inspector what she thought she was doing & she said that because my car was completely covered in reflective sheets & the tail gate was open I must have left dogs in the car-like doh No it was to make sure the car was cool for the drive home as the air con doesn't kick in immediately. On removing the cover over my Lintran box & opening the side door-guess what no dogs !!! I did make the bloke on the tannoy announce an apology & add that there were no dogs in my car !! The two bobbies apologised immediately-I'm still waiting 76 years later to get one from the RSPCA !!

Its horrible all theses stories of suffering dogs and 7 dogs dyeing in the US after being left in a van. There should be a law that no dogs are left in cars. You can now get portable pens to take to shows.
I myself would not be upset if I was called to my car if they suspected dogs were left in there . It would please me to see they were so concerned   Even though there were no dogs in the car. Better to be mistaken than to let dogs suffer I say.

The worse thing is for £5 you could leave your dog in the unenterd dogs tent and aslong as you said it was ok they would be taken for a little walk to do a wee, water kept topped up, given cuddles as required if friendly, crates allowed, flaps open in tent to keep airflow, they even had spare cages and blankets!  A friends dog I collected for her while she got the car had spilt her watter over the blanket so they put it outside to dry and gave the dog a dry one.

Think on CD I'm preeching to the converted though arn't I?

Im truly disgusted and ashamed people in my breed were doing this. My dogs have been struggling in my house with windows open and ceiling fans on so Ive no idea How danes in vans coped in this heat.

I think it is time that the people who do this are named and shamed and band from showing for 6 months. There is no excuse.
