Sorry tried search but couldn't see what I was looking for. A while back was a discussion about a sick rabbit in the road and it being run over. One was in the road in front of me tonight and it was alive but wouldn't move...I lifted it off the road and noticed its eyes were covered over in a white pus..(it was dark so it make have been coloured but it looked white to me)...I hadn't the heart to do anything more than move it....
but my main question is ...what ever the disease it had.....is it contagious to dogs or people. I had a dog with me and he didn't go near it....and I cleaned my hands with baby wipes in the car.... But just to be safe I thought I would ask.....
I read the link and am assuming it is just a bunny thing as no mention of any other types of animals contracting anything similar has been mentioned...
That's what myxomatosis does to rabbits. No, it's not contagious or infectious to other species, but the rabbit will not survive - the fact that you could get close enough to pick it up shows that it was very close to death. A sharp blow to the head or back of the neck would have put it out of its misery.
Awww thats heart breaking, i agree, it would of been kinder, but i could NOT of done that either, i could never bring myself to do something like that, a needle at the vet, yes, but not like that, even though it would of been nicer, just horrible situation :(
