Hi, haven't posted on here for ages, but I've got my first obedience show tomorrow, am looking forward to doing it but starting to feel the nerves now :-( My main goal is to go into the ring and enjoy it, but have any of you guys and gals got any tips on what to do and expect. My dog, Fidel (collie x greyhound), has been great at classes and it was our instructer who persuaded me to give it a try. We're doing Pre- beginners and beginners class. The retrieve is the main thing that Fidel struggles with. Im sure he will do me proud.

Good luck :D Remember to book in at both your rings within an hour of the start of judging.

Most of all keep it fun ;-)

Whoop whoop!! Just back form show and Fidel was great. Got 8 points deducted in Pre-beginners, some of them were my fault for not listening to the directions given to me properly, think it was the nerves. And then we got a 9 in the beginners and his retrieve was great. Sit stay he went down on a sit in beginners but i think it was the heat bless him. I was just hoping that he didnt run out of the ring, so am chuffed to bits with him.

Was brill seeing the more advanced dogs tho, just amazes me how they get their dogs to do that.

But fidel seemed to enjoy himself which for me was the main thing

Thanks for the encouragment everyone :-)

Very well done :-)  Really good result from your first show and hopefully it has inspired you to enter more? Fabulous to see the 'other' breeds competing :-)

Brilliant Glad you had a good time & that Fidel enjoyed himself. Don't worry about going the wrong way, everyone has done it at sometime, even the "top"handlers. I'm off to Grimsby tomorrow for a day out

True :-)  I've only stewarded Ch C once and remember getting quite a complex when several people went the wrong way to what I thought were very clear instructions. I stuck to helping my friend out with 'lower' judging appointments only after that, less stress for me :-)
