A client at the vets where I work has told us that she is getting a 'teddy bear puppy' for her daughter - she is apparently going to a 'breeder' - any ideas what this is; presumably a new fad in designer dog?

A newfie? I think they look alot like teddy bears when they are pups

Just googled it - its a Shih tzu x bichon frise  apparently :-( . Apparently some American has trademarked the 'breed' and is offering a franchise. Unbelievable!! there is a 'breeder' in Surrey area apparently

oh dear, they will be calling themselves the" Teddy Bear Factory " next (that is supposed to be irony not humour btw)  ..sigh

oh yet another "pedigree designer dog" eh - grrrrrr makes my blood boil all these so called special new "breeds" - im sorry but they are nothing more than cross bred, heinz 57 mutts! and should not be being sold for £1000+ or whatever ridiculous price tag these so called breeders put on them. if people dont want a pedigree dog then go to a rescue centre and give a home to one of the numerous dogs without loving homes!

As a bichon frise owner this really upsets me, no research is done on owning these dogs as personalities differ and yet again a selfish and greedy act.

OMG, just quickly googled it.  THere's one website where they also have a flickr page and at one point she had over 240 pups available!!!!!

OMG....Thats is disgusting....surely something can be done about someone who churns out puppies like that??? :(

Exactly my thoughts!!!

Should see the wonderful comments on the flickr page!  Agggghhh, we all try our best when breeding and I bet people like her do no health testing etc. and won't have half the problems!
