Hi Trevor,

Thanks for coming back to me, I got Frontline, but the people at my water group keep on saying it is no good for puppies under 12 weeks and it doesn't say anything on the packaging and my wonderful Vet has gone away for a week and closed up the surgery.

I am sure my Vet knows what he is talking about, but now they have put doubts in my head.

HELP

hi, frontline spray can be used from 2 days of age ! but the spot on can't be used until 12 weeks. All our breeders use it no probs from a few days old.
Would like to know how your vet can close for a week !!!!!!!!!!

When I apply Frontline to a puppy or young dog I put rubber gloves on, spray into your cupped hand and rub into the coat. Pay special attention to the area around the tail and around the base of the neck, but also put all down the back and underneath. Take pup for a walk or play till the coat is dry.

I did the same as Jackie said:) It's only the past two months (7/8 mth old bitch) that I've used the pipettes since the growth rate in GSD's is huge- getting the pipettes- you'd need more towards the end of the program:)

Stacy, yes I forget they do a (spot on) type of application now. Cant use it on my breed because of the close growing coat, you would have to shave to get to the skin so I have to use the 'old fashion' method and spray it on, shame really it must be so easy to use the spot method.

It is easier- I do Kassie monthly now- because our cat roams so he's more likely to bring them in with him and pass them onto Kassie:) Like I said before though they're not much good if you have a larger breed because of the growth rate:) I think though it was you Jackie who advised me the first time I did Kassie with the spray- I did the rubber glove version- you'd have needed two pairs of hands otherwise- one to hold the dog- a hand to part the fur and a hand to spray:) Funny isn't it the tips and tricks you pick up from here:)

Hi,
My Vet is close to retirement, and is a bit stuck in the old days, he has given me some numbers for other vets in the area. But when I phone and speak to receptionist I am told the Vet or Nurse will call me back, but I am still waiting. I really should think about changing my Vet.
Can you use Frontline on a litter of puppies, I am worried about them mouthing each other when they are treated, would I have to separate them for a certain period of time and if so how long would you suggest.
I have always used a homoepathic insect repellant on pass litters but alot of my puppies are going to home that have cats. I have use frontline on my adult dogs.
And can anyone tell me if you can purchase frontline in france for half the price other the counter, as friends from water group claim thats were they get theirs from.

The ideal would be to make sure that there are no fleas about to infect the pups, before they were born. If they do have fleas I would suggest that. You make up a new bed for the dam and bitch and use rubber gloves to treat the bitch along the back only, then do, with the rubber gloves, one or two pups at a time and let them dry & move them to the new 'clean of fleas bed, when you have completed the move wash or spray the beding and anything that may be contaminated by the fleas or their eggs.

Hi Jackie,
Happy Birthday for yesterday :)
The puppies do not have fleas, I just want to make sure they are treated as one of the new owners made a comment when last here about having to treat her cat and as must are going to homes with cats, I would like to prepare the puppies.
