Mason had a tick on his shoulder, i removed it with a tick fork but there still seems to be quite a lump under the skin. There was no blood when i removed it, i thought there might have been so maybe the head is still left in there? :( it doesnt seem to be bothering him and i have smothered it with vaseline (he finds this quite nice!) but how do i know it is gone for sure? what will it do if the head is left inside?
Thank you
Vikki

quite often when you remove the whole tick a lump remains for a couple of days.

Mine get ticks often through alot of walking on moorland.
I take the tick out and it leaves a lump for sometimes several days.

Dont' worry about the lump, seems to the norm and my dog had the same.just keep an eye on it in case of infection but it should be fine in a few days or so.

They is usually a lump left, I usually wash it down with warm salty water, and just keep a eye on it for any infection/discharge.

same here, sometimes a lump for a few days, sometimes none. Seems they come to no harm. Aren't those little tick forks great? When either of my two see me coming with it they lie down and roll over, ready for the operation!

my little spaniel always gets a lump where a tick has been attached - my other spaniel not so much - i think some dogs just react more severly to the invasion of a horrid little parasite! ticks are my least favorite of all the parasites! creepy little cretins!
