Topic Dog Boards / Health / Anyone know what this is on Boxer's skin

Hi All,

My 6 month old Boxer boy has just started to get 'pink patches' under the white fur on his chest/torso. He only had one to start with. It is pale pink and has a few very tiny black dots scattered amoung the pink. Now he has three of them. The first one is about the size of a 50p, one 10p and one 5p. They are not bothering him and don't seem to be itchy and I can touch them without it bothering him at all. I can't see anthing 'moving' on him and I have checked the rest of his skin and these seem to be the only patches. They are not 'angry' or red, just very pale pink. Almost like a patch of dry skin. No flakes, puss or ooze of any kind.

Does anyone have any idea what this is?

I am going to get him checked over at the vets as it's better to be safe than sorry, but I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this in their dogs/puppies?

He is very well within himself and is bright and happy. I started to make the move over to raw a week or so ago and he is now 100% raw fed as of yesterday. Could this have something to do with it? Could it just be part of the detoxing from Kibble? He was on about 340g of Arden Grange per day. I have gradially introduced raw over a week and he had one kibble meal and one RMB. I started with chicken wings and gradually moved on to pork as well. He has eggs, live yoghurt (as of yesterday), fruit and left over veg.

never seen this before, only ever had itchy type skin problems on my boxer so think it's good to pop to the vets.
To be honest it could be anything but if it's not bothering him hopefully nothing to worry about.
Sorry i can't be more helpful lets hope the vets have an idea or i'm sure someone else on here will have seen this before.

He's probably moulting.
When Boxers moult out the first place you notice it is on their white chest.
The different coloured patches on the skin are always there, you can just see them now, that's all.
On a heavily white or all white boxer, they can sometimes look a bit like a Dalmatian :-)

Hi,

Thanks for your replies. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about, but I do have an appointment at the vets tomorrow evening just in case. I need help to clean the little rascals ears anyway, he just will not sit still for me!!

He is moulting, but I really don't these pink patches were there a week or so ago. I brush him regularly and you could always pretty much see the skin under the white hair on his chest. They are starting to dry out and the large one has become a little raised. Although the shedding of his hair could have caused the dry skin, more exposure to the elements maybe?

Hopefully he'll be fine!

Thanks
