well i'm off to egypt tomorrow and guess what theres a heat wave in the UK lol
Hope some of the idiots (not refering to any one on here) have the sense to not walk there dogs in the midday heat, that really annoys me the poor dogs.

Egypt you lucky thing you , my sons girlfriends just got back she said it was very very hot,
im sure you'll have a great time,
as for the dogs in this heat im dreading it my Rotties already feeling it and has been very quiet this week poor love thankfully the front of my house gets cool mid afternoon as all the sun goes to the back of the house and it very hot in the kitchen so he has been staying in the front , but you can see the heats already having an effect on him,

i know, my boy suffers terribly with the heat although he has got the sense to sit in doors my girl used to have to be shut in she would bake out there rather than sit in doors on her own.

Once we get back from our morning walk and the girlies have been fed they scatter to thier favourite spots in the shade and I don't see hide nor hair of them all day till the sun goes down!!! Pepsi crashes out under OH's desk in the office, Merlot lays by the big gates in the shade with a 6 inch gap under them that catches a bit of breeze and puppy has taken to crashing out at the side of the house by the water bucket under the tap...it is often damp there and I think she likes that...however if I was to touch a leash...well everyone appears as if by majic!!
My neigbours JRT who is nearly all white will lay in full sun and seems to thrive on it, she has ample access to shade but she likes the heat...funny dog! Rose does try to make her go indoors but then she lays in the dinning room in front of the patio doors and sunbathes there!!! My big black hairy girls pant all day but little Floydie never seems to. I take water on our walks and give them a good drink when we get back to the car (While we open all doors and windows to cool the car off) but Floydie never drinks she will wait till she gets home.
It is far to hot for me though...high temp's and hot flushes together....the amount of fluid I am loosing I should be a greasy blob by now!!!
Aileen

we used to have a cream Afghan who loved to sunbathe.
My two are crashed out on the laminate flooring, its much cooler indoors than out - especially once they have dribbled water all over the place !!!

my lot are suffering with this heat, shedding loads of hair, keep crushing them to help, all indoors axel laying in the cool hallway, holly under the dining table, sky following me around the house and layla, well she just wants to play fetch all the time! Having to wait tell late evening before mine get a walk :( and having to avoid the fields on some days as they just seem to be one big heat magnet!

Plenty of idiots in my area. Yesterday I watched as an elderly Malinois collapsed, but fortunately it recovered. It's owners had been playing ball with it and I expect the heat was too much, even though it was only 10:30 in the morning.
This morning I saw a Newfie in a car park near the wooded Common where I went to walk my two dogs. The newfie was in the car alone, sitting in the back seat, drooling and panting heavily. It was an estate and the owner had left the boot open for air. I could not see anyone around at all, which was stupid enough. If the dog had still been there when I was ready to leave there I intended to remove it from the car myself. The idiots do not realize that a METAL car retains heat and even leaving window or doors open is like sitting in a heated oven with the door ajar. Fortunately, the moron that owned the dog had left by the time I returned.

Enjoy Egypt! I cringe when I see dogs getting walked in the midday heat. I am up and out at 6am, and then again at 9.30pm it's just too warm for them though the day, the just lie on the tiles in the kitchen or in the hall.

Enjoy your holiday, what a fantastic place to go.
My three dogs keep asking to go outside and want to play ball, then they chase the ball once down the garden and ask to come in.
I went out at 10am today but was back within half an hour, the dogs were fine apart from not wanting to run round so much but i was a sweaty mess.
Dog training classes tonight so i get away with just one walk as all the mental exercise wears them out. Not looking forward to the hot hall i'll be training in though.

Ooh have fun in Egypt, love it there, hope there is a breeze flowing through or its a nightmare, i collapsed out there one day.. wasn't fun.
As for my pooches, well they also suffer in the heat. We have the back door open so they can choose to be in or out, plus a paddling pool in the shade.
Mine randomly move from being in to out, but all in the shade.
My father's yellow Lab seems to love the sun, laying out in it, bouncing around for a ball to be thrown or the chance to escape through the gate.
Mine won't be walked until its much cooler and the way its going its going to be dark before they get their walks. If it gets much hotter in the night, not sure what i'm going to do.. Hmmm
Ive sympathy with you there Im hot flushes and night sweats as well. My OH has gone off to London & Bristol for three days (Business) Im sleeping at the bottom of my bed under the fan tonight!
My Cocker makes a beeline to sit in the sun and the BC is under the air con. Im walking both for three days (instead of one) so its 6:30 first walk, 11:30 around the block from the office and Im going home and will walk them again around 20:00 down the river for a swim and a bit of frisbee throwing.
Sunday I ended up with three showers, first OH took them out and they came back green with those sticky balls in their coat it took ages to comb them all out. Shower 1, ironing from holidays last week, shower 2, too hot before bed shower 3. I wish I could wash away a bit of weight while I am at it!

> wish I could wash away a bit of weight while I am at it!
That would be good!! I'd be permanently in there!!! ;)
I am absolutely baking in work, big glass shop front, no air con :(, I'm running a fever with a cold & hayfever - I'm not happy at all today & have had to deal with client's all day, I look a mess :(

Thankyou all will have a lovely time hopefully x x

Yes i have been getting up a bit earlier to walk the dogs, before it gets too hot.
My labs seem to seek the shade, but The Vizsla seems to lap it up in the sun. Our rescue seems to hide in the bushes!! clever thing :)

Get yourself a aircon unit. They are a gift from God :-D :-D I haev one in my back living room and the dogs are loving it and one in my bedroom..
I was down south on business today and left my tom tom in the hire car while I was in a meeting when I got back in the car the scream was actually like rubber it was so hot. I flew out of Southampton airport and I swear it felt like I was in Turkey. There were a few sweaty business people who had a busy day in the heat on my flight :-)
My 3 are crashed out on the lino in the kitchen, They look like Hilda Ogden's flying ducks as they are all in almost the same position and have arranged themselves from biggest to littlest:-) Can't actually walk around the kitchen though!

where in hampshire are you ?? im near basingstoke and have just put my washing out !!!!!!!

Misty here - thunderstorms for tomorrow I see. I keep my dog in kitchen/dining room with door open to utility. I pull blinds down, close curtains to keep room as cool as possible. What does Meg do when I get home and let her in the rest of the house? Goes straight to the conservatory - which is like an oven and lies down! Crazy dog.

Thrown it down all day here in not so sunny Manchester! Took half a day from work expecting it to be nice.
We are in Winchester and it rained on and off yesterday for 2 hours or so!! My washing was out!!!
Blue your not eco friendly!! I have fan's at home but office full air con in both rooms. This eco business is ok if you live in an igloo but here we are under a tin roof!!! Home is fine with all windows open and fans on, I have taken to sleeping upside down under the fan, but Im the right side up in the morning! OH back from his travels so im sharing a bed again BOO!!

It's due to hammer down on Friday. Guess what day I've got off?
I'm down south near lymington. It rained quite a bit after i posted but stopped by the evening. Far too stuffy today!

Just been outside to look and the therm is measuring 96 in the shade!!
No wonder the girlies are all flaked out....and I have had to clip my hair back as it's soaking wet and hot on my neck!!! I was pulling weeds up from the pavers on the patio but bending over in this heat the sweat runs into my eyes and stings like mad!!!

wish i was in manc then, it's been baking hot in notts today, likely to be even hotter 2moro but as you'd expect rain all wknd :( typical!
seems people are getting quite frazzled in the heat, 3 serious accidents in & around Notts today :(
makes you laugh though doesn't it..we moan when it's cold, moan when it's hot....typical english!! LOL!!

Well we were completely overcast with thick cloud all day Monday and until 4pm yesterday. We got some sun then and it has been warm today but no full sun! Our Bernese looks for shade and is desperate to get out of the heat, but our Gordon setter lies and bakes - she adores the sun, runs about mad and wants to play all the time. I've seen her coat boiling hot to the touch but she will not lie in the shade. If its cold at all she is inside cuddled on her bed next to the radiator :-D Bramble adores the cold and is always looking for puddles to lie full length in :-D

Hot and sunny and good here, with not a trace of anything other than a possible heat haze.
Two little dogs just lazing around dozing, perhaps tonight they will want to have a walk.
Shame we haven't time for the beach, it must be lovely there.

Too true just atking the girlies out now!!
Aileen
> just lie on the tiles in the kitchen
I think I will.

Poppy was lying behind a low wall, partly under a shrub, with her head in a hole she'd dug!

Mine have both just declined their walk. So i have left them where they are..

Suns arrived in Manchester today!
It is still hot and humid in Devon although not so sunny.
Have been using an electric fan to try and cool down but after a while you get sick of the sound and wave of cool air it brings!!!
I am actually hoping and praying for a good thunderstorm to clear this muggy weather.
> Have been using an electric fan to try and cool down but after a while you get sick of the sound and wave of cool air it brings!!!
>
LOL, snap!!
I have an electric fan in the livingroom & bought a second yesterday to help keep Buster cool (he HATES this heat). But I can't stand the sound from them, it
sounds like a frantic panick to cool down, which makes me feel hot & flustered!!! I also can't stand them on oscilate, because the blast of wind, followed by still hot air make me feel hotter, so I keep them on static, to just help move the air through the house, (for as long as I can bear the sound).
It was a little cloudy and dreadfully muggy here (Gloucestershire) yesterday, really unbearable. Today the scorching sun is out with clear skies, but there is a
slight breeze, my net curtains are swishing in the breeze so we have some air flowing through the house today - YAY, I don't even need the fans on :-D I could not have coped with another day like yesterday
Heatwave or just good weather.
i opt for the latter.
can stay this way all year a far as im concerned, i love it.
gives me way more energy. great for jogging
> gives me way more energy. great for jogging
I find it works in complete opposite - i have no energy and am absolutely sick of feeling hot, clammy and lethargic

Rather this than last years weather of rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain oh and more rain!

I love this weather if i didn't have to work and my dogs didn't have to suffer in it.
Its great if abroad with great beaches and sea to go in, oh and a lovely swimming pool, just don't have that this way.. Beach yes, great no..Sea yes, perfect to swim in no.

Im on maternity leave so dont have to work - would be great if I wasnt so fat and if I didnt have to stay indoors because its too hot outside for the baby !!!!
> its too hot outside for the baby
OMG i was pregnant in august of 1976-now that was a heatwave!I ended up having to be induced and they put me in a room of my own, with a drip in my arm so i couldn't move, broke my waters and left me next to the biggest window in the world. No blinds no curtains-not even round the bed.I thought i was going mad with the heat and the dazzle from the sun.

I love it too. I have just been sitting in my garden reading it was lovely.
1976 the year I took my O Levels we were allowed jugs of water in the exam hall!! Then I spent the summer at my Uncles in Bognor what a lovely tan I had!
> what a lovely tan I had!
Those were the days when people would cook themselves in the sun every chance they got.And i remember people putting
cooking oil on themselves to get a deeper tan!Seems incredible now.

In 1976 i was 6 months pregnant, i remember there were millions of lady birds that year too.

reading about the heat wave of 1976 i bet my mum suffered with the heat as i was born in june 1976! That is probably why i do not like the cold weather ! :) :)

My brother was born in May 76 and just last night when I was moaning about how hot and sticky it was, I got the "you don't know what I had to go through in the heat of '76!" speech! :D
