Does anyone know the procedure for entering the Junior handling at Richmond?

My daughter has qualified through the open shows.  I have the Richmond schedule but it says that invitations to those qualified will be sent. Do we need to enter the dog as usual even if we've not yet received the invitation and as an alternative, can she handle any dog as long as being shown at the show, same breed as her own????

How long before the show do invitations usually get sent out?

So many questions but this is the first time for us!

trying to remember but yes invitations are sent by the JHA so as long as she completed the forms at the show she will get sent one.

Should be due any time soon would have thought from memory (which isn't too good :) )

The dog must have been entered at the show - can't remember if you have to specify or not?

It was our first time last year and they get thorougly spoilt - goody bags and lunch provided too.

invitations will arrive in june/july.  Yes you do need to enter the dog she wants to handle into the relevant breed class like any other show but do not need to mention this on the dogs entry form.

ooh, how exciting.  Shame for us though as my dd who has qualified this year (age 6) shows my Spanish (who is an exceptional handful - mummy's girl (the dog not the child ;-)) who will be due in season in September or bald as she's due for a clip.  Have asked to borrow a TT but this means the table which dd can't actually reach yet & she stacks the dog on the floor & explains to the judge why she's not put her on the table (very confusing!)

I like Richmond, nice show (when not being dragged out of the mud by a tractor :-O)

Might ask Briedog very nicely if one of her lovely girlies is going to Richmond as they've met Emily & survived!  Maisie's coming for a holiday next month so we'll see if she's still hard work (I find her incredibly hard work so.....)

Rach

Am planning on going to richmond this year, so Emily can borrow the hairy hound if she wants.

Just remmeber gundog = huge, utility = not so huge :)  Maybe a well behaved TT (if they exsist) would be a better dogs then a SWD due to class size being smaller....

My first richmond semi's was in gundog group with 52 entries, for the folowing 10 years I never went into the gundog group again.  Infact in the younger age group I went into utiliity! :)

Thanks - think we might be spending the summer with a borrowed TT then!

So glad to have noticed this thread as my young nephew has jsut started Junior/YKC handling, and has qualified for Richmonnd, and I havent' a clue about it, so glad to have one question answered here, about the dog having to be entered in the breed, I had assumed it, but was not sure.  We have sent off his form, and I am hoping we get some sueful details with it.  I do have a very basic question which has puzzled me about the qualification - it says it is for the "Semi Finals" - so if Richmond is the semis, what is the final?

The final is held I believe with the Discover Dogs event in November.

Yes the final is now held at DD for the 14 winners.  Up till last year it was held with the pedigree champion & veteran finals.
