i am going to my friends wedding in august in banff. i didn't realise quite how far this place is from anywhere! anyway, i will not be able to get home the same day so will need a hotel in either aberdeen or banff. with travel expenses on top of the usual cost of weddings this is getting pricy so cheap suggestions please oh wise cd'ers?

There's a few B&B's listed on that site which might be cheaper than hotels. Aberdeen is a fair distance from Banff, there is a bridge separating Banff from Macduff so that might be another option, or Turriff is up that way too.  I would think that a hotel in Aberdeen would be more expensive than a hotel up Banff way.

Have stayed here and its reasonably priced.

goodness thats beautiful, very well priced for the look of it though still a lot for us. we might be able to stretch if the b+b i've emailed falls through as it looks just lovely.

There is a premier travel inn at Aberdeen Westhill (6.4 miles from Banchory) £53 a night at weekends

there are a few more in Aberdeen but further by taxi unfortunately, aberdeen central west is 11 miles and aberdeen south is 12

i'd prefer in banchory so we don't have to bus it in wedding get up. there seem to be a few reasonable b+b's in banchory so hopefully something will be available. thanks though :)

Banchory is about 20mins drive from us so you might find something cheaper in Stonehaven than in Aberdeen but it's a fairly twisty back road across to here if you don't know the road. Fingers crossed you get something in Banchory but it does get a lot of tourists in the summer months.

we don't drive which is the major issue, aberdeen would be ok as shes sorted a coach going back there after the reception but i think i'd prefer banchory.

leaving dundee at 6.20 am (gah!!) as other buses will get us there a bit late, i'm getting my hair done in aberdeen at 9 (can't take more than an hour to get curled and put up?) then we'll get a bus to banchory, which takes about an hour. we'll find the b+b, dump our stuff and get changed into the wedding togs. service is at 2 so hopefully that will give us time.
