Topic Dog Boards / Showing / refund on entry?
- By suz1985 [gb] Date 24.06.09 17:09 UTC
I think I already know the answer to this, but will ask anyway. Once an entry has been made to a show, is there anyway of getting a refund? Due to personal circumstances I cannot make the Bournemouth Champ Show which i entered a while back, entries close tomorrow for it i believe.

I don't believe you can.

Phone them first thing tomorrow and ask. I don't know if they will do a refund but it's worth asking. I recently had a case of having entered one dog that would not be able to go to a particular show and as the entries had not closed online yet I was able to swap that dog for another (for the £5 fee) which at least meant the fee wasn't wasted. Oh just seen that the Bournemouth entry has been extended to the 29th as well.

you could try but i dont think you will get it , my pup missed out on his 1st show ( a champ show ) due to a fractured shoulder and a refund was refused, i was told it would only be refunded if there was a change of judge and that judge had already awarded my dogs a CC :(

If you say entries close tomorrow, I would phone the secretary and find out. It doesn't hurt to phone and ask nicely.
It is unlikely the payment has gone to the bank(unless done online). I would say if entries had closed (even by a few days) it would be unlikely for you to get your money back. There is a possibility you might be able to get a credit for next year??

I stupidly enterd Richmond show twice a couple of years ago, forgot I had entered online, then by post and I didn't get my money back even though they said they would look into it.  Good Luck

My friends got a refund for Windsor a few years back because they could not go, as entries haven't quite closed yet it's worth a try if you spin a good sob story as to the reason, ie not just because you're off on holiday or something. :-)

Entries don't close until the 29th but it is Higham the OP need to speak to as they are the ones taking the entries, not the sec. :)

thanks for all replies, i do indeed have a sob story, just split with my boyfriend of 8 years :( and im currently moving my things out our house. theres no way i can afford to travel down, cant go with my normal showing buddy as its her breeder and she cant show, my boyf and i were going to make a weekend of it, but too far for me on my own, from central scotland, and im taking on extra hours at work to save for a deposit, and may end up working that weekend.

OK, don't leave it too late though cos your less likely to get it go in your favour. :)
