Hi,
I have an 8 week old pup with a tummy upset.
He was due to go to his new home tomorrow.  I am going to ring my vet in the morning but wanted some advice from here first. He had his 1st vaccination on fri and slept all night and all saturday morning. He has eaten as normal, wees and poos were normal until 7pm tonight. He has destroyed all my strawberry plants and eaten the strawbs....are they poisonous to dogs and could this be the reason hes got the trots or is it the after effects of the vaccination.

Although strawberries aren't toxic for dogs, it's possible that whatever he's eaten has disagreed with him - or it's possible that it's the after-effects of the vaccine. Whichever it is, he shouldn't go to his new home until he's better; in itself that's enough stress to the system to cause the runs, so if he's already not quite right he could end up being quite seriously ill. It looks like he'll be with you for another few days - disappointing to the new owner, but it's the puppy's welfare that's important.

Hi,
Got an appt at the vet at 4 today. Hes happy enough in himself and is running around as normal and playing. I was going to keep him here until he was fully recovered anyway so thats not a problem. The new owner is a girl I actually know from work, so she understands that he has to come first. She even offered to pay for any vets fees! I did decline as he is still my responsibility. Thanks for the help Jeangenie.

I was always under the impression that strawberries/plants are toxic. I think I'll go away and look that one up!!
