I have my own little houdini  in the house.i went out this afternoon leaving my new 9 week old toy poodle puppy for the first time today for one whole hour.ive got a lot of time on my hands at the mo so have been able to give her all my time and have obviously left her for 10 minutes to go take kids to school ect, but never for too long.
so anyway i planned lunch with my sister and said i will be one hour and then i must shoot off back home.
well i put her toys food water and bed in my rottweiler crete 48" (so shes room to play)i filled the crete with lots of teething stuff as she seems to be teething quite badly and left her.sat outside the house for 5 minutes listening through the letter box and not a peep.must have gone to sleep.

well.............i came home and shes chewed my carpet on the bottom stair, there has been a lose thread on the stair for two years now and she must have pulled it and started from there.i now have a hole as big as the puppy herself on the left hand side of the stair!
now normally id be so upset as i put her in the crete and well you know...its my carpet ect but i just found it hilarious and fasinating that shes got out of the crete to begin with.we're replacing the stair carpet anyway after christmas so its not a huge drama at all i just find it absolutly amazing shes got out of the crete.
just thought id share with you all lol.

they never cease to amaze do they? our rumble(dogue de bordeaux)learnt very early on how to open the baby gate with his mouth.one day they were all left behind the gate and when we came in they were all by the front door to greet us!we decided to test him by shutting him behind the gate and watching and he does open it with his mouth and then with his head push the gate open letting him and the girls out! its funny to watch him thinking hes so clever and now theyre older theres no reason to shut them behind it as they dont chew, etc.he also opens crates for the other dogs by opening the latch with his mouth, obviously very dextrous with it!roy.

we still now cant figure out how shes done it,OH just laughed when i told him lol, thing is now what do i do ill have to put a lock on it or something.but then that itself can be worrying what if she manages it again but gets stuck due to the lock.i think ill be going back to the old fashioned pen,and if she gets out she wont get past the dining room door lol.

Hi Tamara, That made me smile. When we first had our Tibetan Spaniel, we left her for an hour in a puppy play pen with her bed and toys and she seemed quite happy. But when we got back home she was sitting on the sofa in the lounge and giving us a look as if to say, THIS is where I want to be. She must have climbed up the pen to get out like a cat.
So needless to say from that time on she had the run of the house as she has never chewed or been dirty in the house. But now she is 2 years old she will go in a cage readily and sleep in it. Funny little thing.
