Sorry i know everyone is probably sick of barf questions. Im going to put in my order tomorrow. How may pounds of meat would you give dogs varying from 57kg to 75kg? Actually just to add it will only be for one meal as im finding it that confusing that im going to continue feeding one meal of royal canin

Quantities - as a guideline feed 2 - 3% of your present dog's bodyweight per day. Calculate this by multiplying 2/3 by your dog's weight and dividing it by 100.

If you are feeding just one meal of raw per day, you will need to again divide your total amount by 2

eg: 2 x 57/100/2 = 720g,  .. for a 57kg dog one meal would be around 720g

However be guided by your hand and eye; if the dog is looking a little too ribby up the amount and reduce if the dog is looking a little too well padded! Dogs will vary depending on age, sex, activity level, temperament and time of year.

Hope that helps

Ha ha ha i hate being thick. Thanks i will look at that and keep re reading until i understand. And there is me thinking just one meal of raw a day would be easy peasy. I Suppose it will be once im used to it but im finding it hard undertanding the whole thing. Really i am so stupid.

It does get easier lol.. I no longer weigh food.. once you have a rough idea of what food and amounts weigh over time.. you begin to just 'get a feel' for it..

simplistically..

say your dog weight 60kg.. and you were looking to feed him around 2.5% of his bodyweight..

2.5x 60kg = 150KG .. Divide that by 100 (to give your %) = 1.5kg.. this would be the dogs average daily intake.. and for one meal.. simply half it.. so your raw meal would be around 750g for a 60kg dog.. Simplezzzz :-)

Thanks. I think after a while it'll sink in. At the moment i will buy the dogs a few meaty bones a week, and just reduce a meal slightly. If you was to do that would you give is AS A MEAL or just reduce? For example landywoods do 15 lamb ribs if i was to give say 7 of them to each dog would that class as i meal or treat

Not entirely sure,, since I have no concept of what Landywoods ribs consist of bone/meat ratio.. ( I get whole or part carcass and do my own butchering, and it depends on what size/how much meat is left on/whether calf or sheep etc. as to how I hack it up lol)

If there is good meat on the bones, then yes.. I would feed as a meal, and reduce the RC.. If you feel dogs are gaining weight, you can either cut back the RC or the raw, and same applies if you notice a weight loss..

I would not feed too much bone though, it needs to be balanced with meat.. maybe a meal of mince beef, or some chicken wings, which have a proportionately higher meat to bone ratio..

You will also need to judge just how much RMB suits your dogs. some of mine are good on 60%bone.. but a couple do better around 30%  and also I have a girl, who just does not do well on raw at all, and is fed a complete food
