Any suggestions on how to reduce or get rid of cracks in the heel of your foot. My feet are good small staight toe'd jobbies but in the summer with open shoes my heels crack. I regularly pumice and moisturise but the demon cracks seem to be more obvious in the summer weather and I wondered if there is a good cream to help this?

I have been putting E45 cream on mine lately and they seem much better...makes them more supple.

Best product I've used is Burts Bees Coconut Foot Cream and a pair of those foot sock things that keep the moisture in.  Put it on at night, after 2/3 days they should be looking good and you should only have to do it 2/3 times a week. Means sleeping with socks on in summer :(

I use boots craked heal cream.  I can notice the difference after one night.

I agree the proper stuff from boots, really can vouch that it is effective after only a short while.
The key is ....if wearing flip flops and such like then you need cream on your feet particularly heel areas, daily (or nightly)

There are lots of things on the market for these type of products. I find Palmers http://www.etbrowne.com/ a brilliant prouct for any type of dry skin condition.
Recommend putting quite a bit on your feet every night along with a pair of socks and watch and see

Ditto the cracked heal cream, i put it on at night and then rub the dry skin off when i've socked my feet in the bath for a while.
The cream really keeps your feet soft and as long as you use a pumice in the bath every few days they stay looking and feeling good.

I'm with you Mini, Burt's Bees are the best and it smells delicious too.  I also like Lush's Lemoney Flutter which is a bit cheaper and also smells good enough to eat.

Australian cracked heel balm from Sainsbury's. Use a scoll rasp (thing like a file) and try and scratch the surface (not to the drawing blood stage!!) then heel balm every night after a bath or shower and it works. Or a pumice stone in the bath and the heel sucks it up.

ped egg is the best skin remover ever but I went to a chiropodist one year for a medi ped.  some salons have visiting chiropodists and they get the scalpel out and tidy up any nasty bits but don't paint your nails

I've been using one of those rasp things along with the pumice and some foot cream at night and socks in bed, very sexy :-D but it doesn't ever seem to really go away. I think I'll try some of the creams suggested and hopefully one that the dogs don't like the smell of as they're constantly trying to lick my feet   :eek

My feet used to be terrible, no amount of pumice-ing or rasping made any difference.  Scholl cracked heels cream helped but couldn't remove built up hard skin.

Then a friend told me how good a PED Egg was - and she was right!   I couldn't believe how effective it is, now the Scholl Cracked heel cream has a chance to work - except I don't really need it any more :-D

I bought a ped egg, but find it rubbish.  Am I doing it wrong?

I use the scholl foot file and periodically go to a chiropodist.  I've also just bought one of those callous knives from Boots and that worked wonders.  I do my feet regularly and I think this is the key to keeping them in good condition.

Hi All,

Lots of good advice here.  I can only add a few things:

1) If you get cracked heels, try not to wear open back shoes all of the time in summer.  This can aggrevate the condition.
2) A good moisturiser and gentle exfoliation with a gentle rasp will help.  I really like a product by Jessica for heels.  Works wonders. Bit pricey though.
3) Cotton socks at night and foot cream will help.
4) Keep to a regular pattern, once or twice won't work.
5) Perhaps get a proffessional pedicure to start you off on the right track, once someone has worked on your feet for you it will encourage you to keep up a good routine.
