..I've brought Molly into work with me today, no appointments booked in so should be fine, so far she's been as good as gold. I work in a small office with a shop front on a busy high street so think she's going to be doing a lot of people watching today!! Anyone else take their dog into work with them?

I bring my dogs into work with me, I work for my OH and we have a small office about 3 miles from home and they come with me every day, on the odd occasion I work from home they are with me there too! It's surprising they are usually bouncy boys but as soon as I get to the office they both settle down until I turn the phones onto answerphone - then they know we are going home :)
I have brought both my pugs into work with me since they were 12 weeks old. They behave very differently at work to at home. They spend all day mooching around under the desk then as soon as 5pm comes they start running round like loonies.
they cry to get out the car when we get to the office too, they love it.
Also, it is good therapy in a sales environment to have dogs around! :)
Mason is my bestest buddy and our pub dog, he has been here since he was 6 weeks old (rescued) and the pub is his home! So yep, he's in work with me all day everyday. He met so many different people, smells, animal, situations when he was young that he is such a well rounded dog (i feel). Fearless (in a good way) approachable yet aloof with some people. He has also perfected the "they havent fed me for weeks, so hows about sharing those crisps" look :) Thats probably been our biggest hurdle with him, Food! he loves it and will do anything anyone asks for a tit bit...sit? sure! Lie down? I can do that!! Roll over? anything you say!! you want a paw? here, thats two!! speak? as loud as i can for you!!
Everyone loves him and i feel he brings alot of happiness to people who i assume are quite lonely. he will greet people he likes at the door, sit with them while they read their paper, guard pints :)
What always makes me smile is when stupid people assume they can get him to 'preform' by barking orders at him Barbra Woodhouse style. He just gives the "umm, nooo" look and trotts off!! People then have the cheek to say, oh well he isnt very well trained, is he? hehe, no he just doesnt listen to morons :)

I work from home a lot so mine are at my feet as I type today
Both of ours are in with us 24/7. Its easier now they are older, house training was a bit of an ordeal but the carpets came up a treat! But our BC and Cocker are in with us every day.
I love this mail, near us the dog is in the pub it was a bit of a shock at first to realise "Dave" was a dog!! but you are dead right they feel a person is "needy" and do share their company with lonely people. And if the dog does not like someone they are probably a badun.

Wiltshire one I thought you said you worked from home?
I agree! They can sense so much more than we do, or choose to :)
Nope, i dont work from home. i work in a two floor office in town center. Why's that/

i brought my dog into work with me for the first year and a bit of his life. im a veterinary nurse, and the practice is a large hospital, most of the staff take their pets in, they all have a large kennel each with a comfy bed, and large grounds to run around on for an hour each day at lunch, my boy loved it. however, i now have a new job and leave him at home as my new work is minutes away and i go home each lunch to eat at home with him. i think hes happier on the couch...:)
> Anyone else take their dog into work with them?
lol, no, wish i could though, it would be hilarious...
I sometimes take one into work (Car Dealership, married to boss) I work with another women in the accounts office by the main reception and depending which dog a sign is placed on the door so anyone entering the office knows its either the 'love you to death' dog or the 'Just try it mate!!' very safe when we are sorting large amounts of money. It is also interesting to see the respect we get from the men when they come for something!

I take my dogs with me as often as I can, they are probably on their own for no more than four hours a month. I freelance now but still have deskspace with my former employer. Both dogs come with me and get treated like royalty by my colleagues, they get walks while we're there, toys and treats and have lots of friends to talk to. The only problem is that not everyone likes dogs, so I always check who's there before I bring them in and if need be we turn around and work from home. I make half the income these days compared to when I ran the company, but then I could never have time for dogs. Every day is a blessing with them...although not too keen on the fishnet sock look they worked up for me today.

So true, Whistler! We used to have regular visits from a pet-hating couple who would end up staying all weekend, helping themselves to whatever food or drink was in the fridge, lounging around in the bathroom-mainly because their own home renovations hadn't advanced further than building site stage in 14 years...my older dog is an exceptionally courteous and friendly, laid back boy, but he wouldn't go near those two and backed away when they pretended to make friends. Diesel is 20 months old now and it's been a year since they came to call...well done our man Diesel!
