Not sure if this is the right place but I am sure the mods will move it if not. I think I am still in shock This morning my friend who walks my dogs when I am at work took them out as usual. About 1hr later she rang me in a panic little pomchi had vanished right from under her feet, OMG fortunately I hadnt left for work so my daughter and I flew down to meet her. How we got Mia back in one piece I shall never know. She had left the park which is quite big crossed one main road was seen down a side road then back up the middle of another main road twice around a roundabout on the road and was finally caught by a wonderful man who saw her running along stopped and was found by my friend laying on the pavement trying to coax Mia to come to him. If he hadnt been in his car again when he stopped to speak to me I would have kissed him, apparently he has little dogs and hopes someone would do the same for him The workman in the road had tried to get her as had an rspca van who chanced upon her and good knows how many other people we had asked. Apparently cars were swerving to avoid her.
We were soooo lucky she nor anyone else was hurt or worse. The strange thing is her recall is brilliant and usually she doesnt leave our side particulaly if we are out with with my Whispa. Well its a flexi lead for her from now on and more recall training. My poor friend was nearly in tears Had a little laugh when we drove back home with her I stopped to thank the workman one looked through the window and in thebroadest irish accident said" r thats the little ....... " he had tried to grab her but she was having none of it.!
Phew is the right word! :-)
Do you think she was on her way home to find you? You were very lucky especially with the traffic there is around today, so pleased for you that it was a happy ending and nice to hear how others tried to and did help. :-) The little minx.
My grandmothers dog was a nightmare for taking himself over busy roads, going back many years now, (so traffic was nothing like today) but he loved our Rough Collies and my brothers and I, he used to frequently jump over my grans wall, travel approx 5 miles going over main roads and countryside to our home and if my mum was not in when he got there he would come to the school to find us, we often had to trot him home to mum in our break or lunchtime, and then mum would drive him back to my gran. It's amazing how he never got run over, but he was on a mission. In the end my Grandmother had to tie him to a rope when he was in the garden, or he would be off again.
