Hi all,
Well im having a quiet year in showing to say the least.  Breeding my good bitch so she is out of action.  One of my males is on showing/breeding loan in another country.  And my younger ones are no where near ready so saving my money from the entry fees.

So decided I would like to have a go at stewarding.  So if anyone knows of any shows needing a newbie steward then let me know.  I have shown for years but never been the other side of the place cards so to speak.  Nice way for me to get my dog fix, try and help out a club or two and settle some new showers nerves if I can.

Not sure where you're based but if you pick up a few schedules for shows that are near to you, you could phone their secretaries and volunteer your services. If you explain that you're keen but haven't done it before I'm sure they will be delighted to both welcome and train you. Most show societies are often short of stewards.

Also if you look in the events section in the dog papers, there are usually KC approved courses for ring stewards in various different locations. They are also listed in the Kennel Gazette. You can probably track courses down by going on the KC website too.

I notice your in derbyshire,  Shame as down beds/herts.cambridge I could get you a couple.

But do look at schedules, most societies ask for stewards, even if they don't no harm in calling the secretary/chief steward. :)

Sorry all, should have put that really.  I am on the derbyshire/leicestershire border.
I am definately going to contact some of the secretaries of the more local open shows that I have attended in the past.  If anyone knows of any others that arent listed on fossedata, etc then let me know.
