Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Another pricey one - don't forget the car park

Just entered Bournemouth... £25 for one entry (with tickets) as the car park was an extra £2.  If you're yet to enter, don't forget the carpark as I nearly did... £5 on the day   I can't remember if Bournemouth have dropped their usual public paying entry fee therefore charging for car park??

Is anyone else really cutting back this year?  5 years ago, the only general champ show I wasn't doing was Border Union (no tickets), now I'm doing well if I get to 5 in a year :-(

The entries are showing that people are cutting back and being choosey about their judges.  afew years back even if you knew the judge wouldn't do you anything, if you had a dog they hadn't judged you gave them a chance for  a day out.  Now no-one can afford to waste their money, any judge that we think won't do us well we won't go to.

We have just entered the Bournmouth show as well and was surprised at it costing £33 in all.

I just entered Bournemouth this morning too, and also entered Richmond while I was online. I had been mulling over travelling up for City of Birmingham too, but after paying out a total of £61 for the other 2 shows, decided to give it a miss. Got to draw the line somewhere! ;)

I've been cutting back on shows for the last 5 years.  Once everything hit £20 a dog.  I'm lucky if I get to 6 Ch shows a year now :-(  makes it harder with two breeds as well.  Bournemouth was expensive for non CC breeds too, so I've only entered one of my Spanish.

blimey  are hobby is becoming very expensive now,. Thought Paignton expensive enough!!!!

Yes it's a shame.  Champ shows are going to become an exclusive club at this rate of which I won't be a member!  I'm still recovering from entering 2 dogs at the National (£25 each) and then not being able to go... infuriating.

I think the most expensive is Windsor with entry of £24 & car park of £4!!! I refuse to pay it, I would have liked to enter last year but to have put £2 on the entry & the Cp was in my opinion plain money grabbing. This year we have a rubbish judge so the decision was easy.

windsor i believe was £24 last year too

I don't think many of the Champ Shows have increased their entry fees.. and two I have just entered have held the same fees for the last three years.. and lets face it.. the odd £4.00 for car parking is not going to break the bank... is it?.. SKC car parking has been this way for years.. and nothing to do with the SKC, it is the people who own the car park that charge us..

I don't begruge paying upto £5 parking for a day!

Also I don't think shows are making THAT much not with insurance, ground fees, benching, tents for wet weather and benches, judges expenses etc etc etc.  It all adds up.

yes, but you probably don't pay it do you hee hee ;-)  I pay for my dogs, my mum's dogs, I've stopped buying her a catalogue (mean woman that I am - unless it's gundog/utility day :-D) I do the driving & she pays for petrol, oh & I often use her car.

I know that a lot of shows are bound by the owners of the carpark rather than it being their decision, but yes, actually I do begrudge paying £5 for a carpark (which let's face it, is a field normally) on top of £22-£25 per dog.  We then get on to the catalogue prices.... whoever decided just to do group ones at a discounted price must deserve a medal (so thank you!)

Sadly everything is getting more expensive, at least fuel isn't quite as bad as this time last year, but it's still not great.

Yes your right, it went up in 2008 from 2007, when I paid £22 for entry & £2 for cp.

I do begruge an increase in both entry & cp especially of £2 for each in one fail swoop!!

Just spent £136 on entering W&P and Paignton!!!!!!Not am I only choosy which shows we attend due to prices, but how many we Woos we take.We limit it to only 2 with C.Cs on offer and our other pup who doesn't attract C.Cs.If I took all 4 it would have added almost another £100.
