Hi, can anyone tell me what is a brace class & what is expected of you?

Many thanks

Basically it is where you have 2 dogs of the same breed (and preferrably same colour ;-) ) and you are judged against other braces to see which is the best brace. They are run together on the same side so they have to behave and move well together. You tend to only get them at breed shows. I think  :-)

Hi you get brace classes at championship shows, we have entered a mother/daughter brace at East of England and the 1st prize is £100 !! my hubby has been practicing like mad as its not as easy as it looks LOL

Oops  Just goes to show that I don't pay too much attention to brace classes, doesn't it? It does help if the 2 dogs are similar in type, which mine aren't :-( Even mother/daughter are different. Daughter looks more like her dad. Not a bad thing ;-) So why do I still mistake them for one another?????? :-D

You get them at companion shows too, I enter my Cavs at that level because they have similar markings but one is a tri and one a blenheim so wouldn't get anywhere at open shows! :-)

Some years ago, I entered two of my RRs at the Hound show over in Ireland, a masculine dog and feminine bitch, but of very similar colouring. We won a voucher for a pair of Hush Puppy shoes. We also won at a couple of breed shows too :)
