Topic Dog Boards / General / American Training Collar???
- By Cava14Una Date 22.11.02 11:26 UTC
Can anyone help me, a good few years ago a friend brought me a collar from Crufts don't remember which stand. It was made of webbing and had a clip rather than a buckle fastening but also a web check section. It was like a half check but could be adjusted and unclipped to be put on and off. Clear as mud;-)
I loved that collar but I stepped on it and broke the clip, I've looked at every show including Crufts and never seen them again, anyone know what I mean ?
I was told they were American and I would really like one for Cava

Anne, I don't know if this is any help, if you look at the post under yours re: a good training club - in Kerioak's reply she's put a link to obedience uk site, look at their design leads and collars (I use them) they make to order as well - they may be able to make you one with a clip, I don't see why not as they make half checks - they aren't expensive either - and make really snazzy colours up for you too!!! maybe someone else will know the actual product though! HTH julie:)

Acolade leather do a round leather one, which you can have made to measure, ie order one 2 inches longer than neck width!

Hi Anne
I've seen that type of collar-is it a half check collar with webbing instead of chain and a fastener that clips together like the straps in a babys pushchair ?
I'm sure it was cannac ( I bought one for murph and took it back because I wanted the chain type )
Our local petstore has them about £ 6 I think
if you can't get one let me know and I'll have a look next time I'm in .
If this is not what you're looking for then just ignore my blithering :D

Liz,
YES!!!! That's it exactly. I'm away to see if Cannac have a web site, but if not may get back to you,

You got me curious, so I started looking, Anne. :)
Are any of these what you are talking about?
Canac Collars
The "combi" collars seem to be what you're describing. Very nice :)

I've got a combi and an adjustable one for Holly in the very fetching burgundy colour!! She's also got a matching lead!! The really sad thing is that my parents, my in-laws and my SIL have also got the same sets for their dogs!!!!!

I have to add that I've had two of these collars and both of them the clasp opened on me
The first time I put it down to the fact that Murphy had bitten the clasp but the 2nd time he hadn't and the collar opened whilst walking down the road so now I stick to the one that goes over his head ( more fiddley to adjust but I know it won't come open ;) )
not trying to put you off but just thought i'd share !!!!

Same her, now only trust metal buckles and rings. I get very cross with the tendency to replace metal buckles with plastic fasteners. Muzzles are a case in point. I wanted to use one to stop my oldest bitch scavenging the kentucky bones etc in the park, but woith the plastic snaps she just would paw until they broke!

Hi Liz,
I have always used this kind of clasp and have had no problems with them. I find them easier to take off and on with the long coat.

Hi Anne, if the canac one isn't the right one, I'm not sure if you want one with chain or all web - Ive seen one that is all webbing its called the 'Kumfi Klip on Action Collar' , especially for beardies/OES etc so the chain doesn't mark/catch the coat - I'm rubbish at these link things - the site is

www.thingsfor-pets.co.uk/acatalog click on dogs collars/leads it is in the section ID collars & Tags.

hope you can find it here, if not do a search for Kumfi Klip on Action Collar and I'm sure you'll find it. I'm rubbish with computers :D julie:)
