I keep reading that bitches carrying large litters tend to go early....any experience of this?
- By JeanSW Date 10.06.09 20:30 UTC
I don't think that there is an answer that is set in stone.  I have recently posted after worrying about a bitch being well overdue.  She whelped on day 67 and had a large litter for the breed.

And there are bound to be CD'ers who have had a bitch carrying a large litter, and she whelped early.  They do it to confuse us.  :-)

Hi

Most of our girls have whelped early, some 5 days early others a little later, no hard and fast rules.

so far i have only had any of my girls whelp 2 days early, never any earlier. my litter at the begining of the year was 11 puppies and she went a day over, but again it all depends on when they concieved as the day they are mated isnt neccessarily the day they concieve so unless the bitch was blood tested then i dont think you can really say they were truely late or early. my bitch had a litter 8 weeks ago and there was 10...she went to day 62 although I thought for that last week that it was going to happen that day (everyday lol) I was shattered by the time they came and just starting to catch up now....Good luck, I will look out for news

22nd from 1st mating and 24th on 3rd mating

I dunno i just think she will go early....well around 20-22nd I mean but yeah I know it all depends on fertilization dates but when she was scanned Archie said 5 weeks or a day or 2 over so that would be about right. Will defin keep everyone updated

One of my girls had a litter of 9 last year, HUGE litter for my breed, she whelped day 63 from 1st mating, my most recent litter day 62 from 1st litter, 7 pups.
