My bitch was due her puppies on the 5th of June, still no sign of labour! I took her to the vets today for a scan to make sure herself and the puppies are o.k, and they are. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there so many days that I should let her go overdue?
Her temp has been between 96.3 & 97.1 for about 5 days.

I recently had the same worry, I expect my post is still around on the breeding forum.  My bitch went to day 67, but I did have her regularly checked by my vet, just to be sure she hadn't dilated, as I didn't want to miss inertia - but she whelped fine.

My bitch whelped her last litter naturally on day 68 from the 1st mating (day 66 from 2nd). All puppies were strong and healthy.

She is 66 days from first mating and 64 from second. Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better now!

Thanks Jane. Do you think she will be o.k with having a natural birth? Have you ever experienced 'our' breed go overdue? didn't know if I am allowed to mention the breed?!
- By JaneS (Moderator) Date 09.06.09 12:18 UTC
No, I'm afraid you can't mention the breed ;-) Yes we have had the odd one go over the expected due date without any problems (67 days was the latest) so it's not necessarily something to worry about but obviously you do need to monitor things carefully (as you are doing).

Thanks for the advice. She has finally started this morning so we are now just waiting.

She has had them but unfortuntley she had to have a c section. She wasn't dilating and the girl pup was in a funny position so they couldn't come out naturally. Both pups are 10 1/2 oz and really healthy. Molly is fine just very sleepy.

Awww......congratulations, they are still bigger than my little chap, he's now 9.6oz so catching up, very slowly but surely.

Molly will be fine in a day or two, just watch her closely as she's going to be sleepy and a bit clumsy.
