Topic Dog Boards / General / Dogs want a static caravan with fence
- By gaby [gb] Date 09.06.09 00:13 UTC
We are looking for a quiet static caravan site that has fenced pitches. Can anyone help, they are all open plan but Chuck needs to go outside at midnight and 7.00am. I may not be dressed at these times and if we had a fenced pitch it would just be a matter of opening the door for him to do his thing. North West England or North Wales would be good.

I know in south wales they have static caravans with fences round as we were looking for one. We saw a couple on a nice quiet farm and they looked ok...I will try and find the link for you.

Hi gaby

there are probably lots of small sites with some fenced areas but TBH you're limiting your choices drastically by using that criteria.  I have a large deck around mine which is obviously a no-go area as far as toileting is concerned but if I need to let mine out for late night/early morning relief I just do it in my PJs - as does pretty much everyone else I know so you'll not look out of place :-p

As an aside, I'd imagine those who have a fenced off pitch as a garden area wouldn't be best impressed with having visiting dogs using it as a toilet - much would depend on whether the statics were owned by the site or privately and if the latter whether dog owners/lovers or not.

If your sleeping prefs are au natural, buy a cheap dressing gown and get on out there!
regards,
Teri

We have a static van and are not fenced in. I have a pup at the moment so late and early toilet trips. Eveyone is outside in their dressing gowns doing the same thing on long leads. I am on a corner pitch so they go and i clean it up first thing.

Don't limit yourself. Besides, the dogs love the caravan life so much they are exhausted and unbelievably well behaved!!!

still laughing!  :-)

Mine is on a small private site next to the sea not too far from Taunton.  I don't have a fenced off bit, although, to be fair, the Collies are exceptionally good and understand stay enough to poop on "my" bit of grass.  I can leave them out lying on the grass and be inside with no worries.  Can't however, say the same of the toys.

I use one of those screw in the ground things to attach a line to the collars if the little ones want to go mooching.  As it's one of the few places that dogs are allowed on the beach all year round, it is a very popular site with dog owners.  I happily walk round in a nightie and slippers, and nobody has accosted me yet!  But I live in hope!  :-)

We used to have a fence around ours years ago in North Wales but many of them were stopping it as they said it was a fire risk.
