Phil,
I saw you asked a question about Dr John protein while I went through new posts but can't find the thread now.
Swopped my two onto it a few weeks ago as Phoe had got picky on her James Wellbeloved and been having trouble getting decent tripe round here 4 Sam so decided to give complete a try. So far both seem to being doing well :D
Protein 20%
Oils/Fats 9%
Fibre 2.5%
Ash 6%
Vit A 8000 iu/kg
Vit D 800 iu/kg
Vit E 80 copper (as cupric sulphate) 15mg mg/kg
As Helen (?) said - the cost is £6.99 per 15kg.
When I spoke to the rep at a show he said that it was all to do with not spending a fortune on advertising and coperate things that keeps the price down.
Note these figures are for GOLD - they do do a lower protein Silver as well

Sara, I know this is meant for phillipa, I asked a question on the same thread re Dr Johns but can't find it either, I wanted to know if you got it delivered direct to your home, and do you feed all year round, not just when they are working. is this food one type of pellet or like a muesli kind of thing, I've been feeding chudleys but my dogs are really windy on it, they were the same on skinners too, I hadn't heard of Dr Johns before and am really interested, Helen said she saw an ad in ST - I don't suppose you have any contact details do you? Hope you don't mind me asking? thanks julie:)

Hi Julie
A GSP breeder near me is the local supplier so I pick it up from him or can get it delivered to ringcraft where I see him.
The telphone number on the bags for more info is :
Gilbertson and Page 01707 367900 - I presume they'd tell you who stocks it near to you.
The Gold is a pellet food - a sort of kidney shaped bit about half inch long. Flavour is Chicken.
I don't work my two and they have only been on it a few weeks but so far so good :) They are not windy so that's a start :D
Quite a few people round here I know who show and work their dogs are on it and have been for ages and all are happy with the results.
Sara :)

You can get Dr John mail order but it puts the price up drastically, however, I always have life stages by mail order as I find them hard to buy in shops. So try to buy it locally, Mole Valley Farmers always carry it in stock, Gold and Silver. :)
Sara
I feed mine on it (Gold) and they do well on it. :) I don't find the protein to much at all, in fact it is v.similar in composition to Gilbertson and Paige *Kennel* which I used before. I swear by their foods from Puppy to Junior and on to adult feeds. And I believe it's right what they say about keeping the price down by not using expensive advertising, so they must get most custom from word of mouth and satisfied customers sticking with them. :D

"I wanted to know if you got it delivered direct to your home, and do you feed all year round, not just when they are working. "
Julie, your other questions have been answered I think but, we get ours from an agricultural merchants in Hawes. I do remember emailing them and asking where another near stockist was as they had run out one month. Give them a ring, I'm sure they will be very helpful.
We feed it all year round so they get it when they are working and resting. Some people are put off by how cheap it is but I have found it to be excellent.
