Ok I'm looking for abit of advise as I would like to go to westminser show 2010 and might have just convinced boyfriend that it is a good idea to let me go. (birthday pressie for my 21st was a trip to NY and he has finally relised whenever we go over we will be going to a dog show!)  Also it's the first time red and whites will be exhibited! :-D

I'm just looking for advise of anyone going on how to plan, where to look at staying, have I left it too late.... I hope not!  we will be going for about a week but not sure how we will cover as will have to find something boyfriend wants to do another day to make up for it!

Can't believe he finally gave in to westminster but I guess whe I sit there looking for shows in NY which scedule red and whites and tollers and make a list of all those in times we are able to go over he finally clicked that I won't be going to the states and not going to a dog show! LOL  :-D

no idea about westminister but i loved NY when i went! you'll have an awesome time.

how about taking your bf on a boat trip around the rivers? its only about $15 dollers and its lovely, then there is a really nice place called Isabellas on the upper west side thats nice for a pleasant dinner :)

and if you can go to the cheap and very cheerful Excellent Dumpling House in chinatown- does exactly what it says on the sign lol

The hotel Pennsylvania is opposite maddison sq garden, great location, but prices hike up for Westminster as have looked into it myself. I have stayed at this hotel a few years back when i visited the city. They also allow dogs in there as well over that weekend.
Another thing to think about is the flights, they too can book out and go up in price. The cheapest airport to fly into is Newark, NJ which is actually closer to travel into Manhatten than JFK, so saving yourself on money here too if getting a cab or shuttlebus.
The further out away from MSG you go the cheaper the hotels should be, i know of a great appt's near the Rockerfella centre, again book out very quickly indeed.

I used to work for Virgin a few years back and all my training is come back into practice.

Even though this is the info for 2009, you should be able to get some idea as to what prices are going to be to be able to stay there.  (Tickets, nearby hotels, etc)

From what I hear, hotels and such book up very early in the year (probably a lot have already booked for 2010) so it would be good to start calling around now to see what is available.

Its a long day at Westminster, but well worth it.  The best of the best are there, as the top 10 dogs in each breed get invites personally to go, and then all entered must be an American Conformation Champion.  Would love to go to Westminster, always love watching it on TV (made my ex BF mad since I stayed in to watch Westminster instead of having a valentines day dinner with him!  But thats not why we are no longer together.)

You've got me now..

Been really thinking i'd love to go and watch this, tried to a few years back, but couldn't get the hotels and flights to tie up with a reasonable cost(left it to last minute).

Right now, need to see if anyone i know wishes to go to NYC. Quite happy for a shopping fan to go as long as they want to be on their own doing it.
