I was thinking about feeding times this morning.
Its been very warm recently and for my dogs very hot with their coats.
I've had to adjust their walking times to cooler parts of the day and was thinking as i was feeding them this morning and them turning their noses up at their breakfast yet again that maybe i should be feeding earlier in the mornings.
Has anyone else changed the feeding times to adjust in line with the heat? I know my pup has refused a lot of his lunches due to the heat, even though he's fed in the cool..
I can move the morning and evening meals to earlier and later respectively to accommodate the weather but not sure what to do about pup's lunch time meal which he is plain not interested in.
Any thoughts, or shall i just put it down and wait for the weather to cool down?

i too am finding that my dogs dont want to eat much in this heat, and trying to find a cool slot in the day to walk them is proving difficult i normally walk during the day while kids are at school but it is just too hot for them,
If it's going to be a hot day I walk them earlier and feed when I get back, although it's warm they are still more likely to be hungry after exercise. I'm finding that they'll eat about 2/3rds of their usual portion for this meal as they are generally less interested in food during the summer. I also feed their evening meal later than usual.
If I'm concerned about the quantities I might offer something extra at night but they seem to be self regulating well enough, presumably loafing about doesn't require too many calories :) You could try a 'midnight feast' with your pup...
Great weather though isn't it? My boys are alternating between sunbathing and flopping onto the cool tiles. All fleeces have been pushed out of bed in favour of hard surfaces!

Glad its not just my dogs then..
Saying that just done a 'teeth' command on my little one and he is missing lots of his front teeth, so that doesn't help either. Gave him a small piece of cold breast of lamb, which he ate as well.
Roll on when adult teeth are through and the little pins are long gone, but then i won't have a puppy any more and this bundle of fun is just adorable.

ive found they all have turned their noses up at breakfast preferring to sunbath instead! but i have offered timo our puppy some at lunch by which time he was famished!the others have all eaten a good dinner in the evening.

Yes my pup's the same, wasn't interested at lunchtime as it was too hot, but just came in and told me he was hungry NOW and promptly scoffed 3 helpings! (didn't put too much down in case he didn't want it, but had to refill twice!). He has a very early breakfast, then a second one with the big boys at about 8am and eats again at about 8 or 9pm with the older ones but really hasn't been interested in the daytime, prefers to play in his paddling pool!

tios getting fed later for his dinner. his breakfast is a smaller meal anyway as he never eats that much in the mornings

My 2 previous GSDs were both a bit fiddley with feeds and it took very little to have them off their food - quite common in some shepherds i gather - but current lad seems to be a real 'shoveller' with meals. He gets a biscuit first thing and then fed around 1pm and 7 pm, split into 1/3 and 2/3 of daily dollop. I was expecting him to go 'off' when it got hot but every hot day so far its been the usual 'nag, nag, nag wheres me dinner, hurry up Im starving :-) '
