I've been puzzled about why my labrador girl humps the draught excluder, the cushions and her blankets. She doesn't do it so much since her first season finished but she does still do it.She gets a bit frantic over it too,but is calm as soon as we take the object of her affection away.We had a little girl before and never once did she hump anything. Can anyone give me the lowdown on why she does it,anyone, and will she grow out of it or will being spayed stop her doing it?

I can't tell you why (I have a bitch that does it), but years ago I had a Toy Poodle bitch that was spayed.   Our draught excluder was called Horace (a snake), and Cindy used to bend him in half and get him between her legs.  She would hump like fury, and when he fell out of the right position, she would get mad with him, and shake him like mad!  ;-)

Poor Horace.Poppy does that with the draught excluder and now i'll have to give it a name.I think Romeo is about right!:)

That did make me laugh!!

My female GSD used to hump our male St Bernard!!  I was told it was a dominance thing, but not sure that would relate to 'Horace' too!

Years ago we had a tiny Yorkshire Terrier called Spike who humped her toy monkey. Sometimes she would make a lair behind the sofa and take the monkey in there with all sorts of socks, t-shirts etc that she had sneaked off with. When she had had her wicked way she would look at the monkey as if to say, 'ha! that showed you who's boss!' At that time I worked as a caster and she was obsessed with my work boots - if I didn't hide them as soon as I got home, they would get humped too.
Have never had it happen with any other dog, male or female.
