OMG!
MY OH has just been run out of the park by a bunch of ravens who where swooping on my Rottie for no reason,
he is in shock and has never seen anything like it ,
he was in park with the Rottie and my EBT , when this big raven started swooping onto my boys back he dove down at him a few times before more arrived and my OH started to get worried so took off as they where swooping and pecking at our boys back, even when OH moved away they came after him, (lol sorry no its not funny really but iv had to have a lil giggle at this Hitchcock moment)
never bothered my EBT or my OH just the rottie, anyone ever heard of anything like this,?

He was probably near a nest without realising it. :)

The birds are nesting, and are very territorial. They will attack anything that comes near their nest site. I can only say keep away from the area until the young have fledged. :-(

chelzea girl, my rottie came running into the house earlier this week with his ears right back totally panting and it was because the crows were swooping at him.  The big wuss ended up hiding inside until they had all gone.  One of the neighbours across the backs has been putting food out and the crows and seagulls were trying to get down into the garden.

i think my OH was more scared than our rottie as the dog didnt notice at first but OH could see the 1 bird swooping at him and he clapped his hands to shoo the bird but it kept coming then the dog thought OH was claping at him and started pounce about wanting to play with OH and the bird kept coming i cant help but laugh at the image of my OH (and his a BIG Man) and Big Rottie being chased out of the park by a bunch of birds he recons it went away like he called for back up then next thing their was 5 of them coming at him thats when the dog notices as one almost went right on his back and the dog run lol lol  lol . wish i had caught it on camera lol pair of sissys lol

out of interest, are you sure they were ravens? Assuming they were ravens, there is this article which suggests they can be aggressive:

Best Idea, I had the same problem one year with crows in one of my local fields which we always walk across, some crows had nested in the large tree there, they were extremely vocal and made the odd swoop, but we managed to walk through the field with no problems. Until one day when a fledgling had fallen out of the tree it was on the grass and we hadn't noticed, the crows were going mad as we approached and became extremely aggressive, actually diving on us, luckily I had my umberella with me and called the dogs to come under as best as they could and walked passed the barrage. I always avoid that field now when I know that fledglings are due.  Granted they are only protecting their young, but they are not frightened of attacking us or anything else.

A 'murder' of crows is certainly the right phrase! :-D

We have had the same problem here a pair of blackbirds were swooping and making a hell of a row  when my cat was out in the garden I dont doubt that he probably deserved it,as he was sitting under the hedge where they were nesting.
