Does anyone have any advice about external size. My bitch is due in 22 days time, this is her second litter - she is absolutely huge already - waddling around and looking quite uncomfortable. Last time she was quite large but not until around day 50, and had 7 pups which is quite a big litter for my breed (average 4 or 5). I had her scanned 10 days ago and the vet could clearly see 4 puppies and thought there were more.
My main question is can there be anything wrong that will make her get really big early, she has a bit of an upset tummy, but is still eating well - I havent increased her feed and doing the same exercise regime. She is my number one concern, but I dont want to waste money going to the vet if I am just being neurotic about her size!! Any suggestions?

Bitches tend to look bigger with their second litter even if the litter is same size or even smaller. :)

I agree they tend to look bigger and bigger earlier with their second litter, but sometimes end up with the same number of pups or even less.  As long as mum is ok in herself I wouldn't worry about going to the vet

My Sophie was huge, and we were shocked she only had 4 puppies, she looked like she was having 8 :-) The first born came naturally, and Sam got stuck and was trying to make his way up the other uterine horn, so Sophie had to have a C Section :-( but the vet told us why she was so big, its because the puppies weighed 15oz each! They are now almost 4 months old and I have been told they are almost as big as their mum :-)

Last litter she had two really big pups and then the rest where very small. All born naturally thankfully.
She is still getting bigger every day - 18 days to go now (working on the assumption that it will be 60 days again).
