We are considering having a Paterdale Terrier as a pet. We are a family of 6, 2 girls 12 & 11, 2 boys 8 & 4. We do have a large garden and live close to fields and Dartmoor, as we live in Plymouth, Devon. The dog concerned is owned by friends with 2 children who are expecting their 3rd unexpectedly and now wish to rehome their 11 week old puppy. What sort of temprament do they have? Are they good with children? Can they be left on their own? Do they take much looking after. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. jmp@blueyonder.co.uk

Primarilly a working Terrier, a Patterdale can be a great asset if bought up correctly. High spirited and game comes to mind, I board several that make super pets, but as I said bred first and foremost for working.
Dawn.
