Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / why wont she put the weight on?

i have a kooikerhondje, it is hard to keep their weight right.
when she was a pup she was too fat and i found it really hard to get the weight off her, now that she is coming up to 14months, it has been really hard to get the weight back on her.
the breed is supposed to put weight on really easy.

i fed her eukanuba(nature), then i put her on eukanuba adult, she is now on eukanuba'nature' again.

is there any thing out there that i can give her that would fatten her up abit, i was thinking tripe.?

tripes great for fattening up, and they eat it with great gusto!

How about trying a different food?  Not all foods suit all dogs and she might need something with a higher fat count....

we had trouble getting rumble to "body up" and after speaking to lots of people we put him on arden grange performance with tripe mixed in and he bodied up gradually over the year.now hes matured in body we have changed the dry to arden grange adult and cut down the amount of tripe as he doesnt need as much to maintain a healthy covering.hope this is of some help, roy.

Teenagers in most breeds can be very lean and difficult to put body on. She's on a quality food already, if she's otherwise fine on it I would say that time will see her body up :-)  I've noticed that a lot of people change their dogs food at this stage, then say that they bodied up over a period of time, chances are they would have done so anyway as they mature.

If you feel you must do something, and I understand completely and have been there myself, then I would add raw green tripe as has been suggested :-)
