A couple of months have gone by and Floyd has had virtually no colitis, just the odd blip.  Has been on Burns duck and rice and thought we had cracked it, but ITS back!  He was castrated last week so not sure if it is do with the stress of that or anasethetic.  It has been suggested to try Royal Canin salmon and tapioca, but I see that have a dried food for colitis and other tummy troubles, has anyone any knowledge of these foods?  or for the more knowledgeable of you should I get him back onto the burns once he is clear.  Have up his Dorwest Tree Barks Powder which helps.

I can sympathise with you as our JRT, Pip, has had colitis and it's horrible for them isn't it.

What the vet gave Pip was tinned chicken and rice (Royal Canin) and then the second time she started off with that but then was put onto Eukanuba canned fish and potato.  She took a bit of convincing with the fish and potato (added white fish in) but soon got the hang of it and really enjoyed it.

We're just at the moment feeding her with Arden Grange's sensitive food which is white fish and potato but in dry form - it's especially for dogs who have very sensitive tums / colitis etc and comes highly recommended by others with dogs with problems like Pip's.  There seems to be a lot of food available to help with these conditions - when I enquired on here I was told Wafcol Salmon & Potato is very good.

Can't help re Burns I'm afraid as I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough; but thought I'd pass on what I've found out!

It could be the stress - personally I would suggest sticking with the Burns if that has worked well - obviously revisit the vet if he's really bad - and if he's not settled in a couple of weeks then consider other dietary options.

If it doesn't settle down then I would look at Nature Diet range which was the only food I found firmed up my Labs poos.

Thanks for all the feedback.  Have spoken with my Vet and he thinks to stick to the Burns and see if he comes right again.   Failing that I think I will look into the Nature Diet, as I know several people who feed this with good results.

Just another tip is to put some live yogurt in with it to try and get the balance of bacteria back in his tummy. Used to help with my old girl.

One of our boys had colitis , we use James Wellbeloved .. Live yogurt and chicken , Its a horrible thing to have , Any thing  Gluton free and he was ok.

Naturediet Lite, it cured my westie dog overnight of his collitis and enabled him to come off his medication completely. I can't praise it enough!!!
