I had two in my basket at the till but I changed my mind at the last minute and thought I would ask you guys first. I just wondered if they are ok to give? Would you say that they are particularly salty or fatty? Also I was a bit alarmed by the warning on the packaging regarding splintering or is this just PAH covering themselves?

poundstretchers used to sell parma ham bones but I found that they were very salty for my dog who would drink loads after eating them

Cooked bones always splinter, Personally I think a ham bone from the butcher would be nicer :)

Oh dear, I have a thing about bones from a butcher - the very thought makes me turn a funny colour.....I can just about manage chicken wings. are all butchers bones gungy and bloody or are there any that I could ask for which are quite clean and normal looking? I understand that the bloodier and gungier they are, the more the dogs will probably enjoy but I couldn't bare for them to touch my flooring and furnishings - yuk! Maybe outdoors when the weather is better but in the meantime I'm looking for something to keep the dogs busy in the evening when I want a bit of peace and quiet.

I've not found any bones in pet shops that haven't been cooked in one way or another and so I wouldn't touch any of them.  But then my poor deprived dogs don't get any processed treats of any kind. :(  :)

lol that is normal looking. the butcher is not going to have cleaned bones, there would be no point as the bones they have are kept for stocks.

if you got a bone from the butcher your dogs would thank you for it- floorings and furniture wash

Thats ok, I could not believe how much they drank.....It was awfull seeing them so thirsty!!!

My friend's father always gives her dog a treat when they visit him once a week, a parma ham bone. The dog loves it but suffers the next day from very very runny poo.
Each dog reacts differently but if there is high salt content then i would be very wary.
