Can you explain more about the Premier shows? Not too sure how it works regarding which breeds qualify for Crufts by getting BOB? etc

Cheers :)
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 20.05.09 15:58 UTC
Gemma, there are 21 breeds that the BOB will qualify for Crufts at this show. They are Poms, Papillons, CKCS, Afghans, Ridgebacks, Labs, Irish Setters, Weims, GSPs, Cockers, Vizslas, Goldies, Gordons, English Setters, GSD's, Pembroke Corgi, Border Collies, Rotties, Great Danes, Siberian Huskies and Dobermanns.

Other breeds will just use the show as an ordinary Open Show. It's a nice big show, held at Camperdown Park, so plenty of parking, and plenty of excercise areas :-)

Hoping to go this year, but will have to speak to family members first. Too much happening this year at home.

Unfortunately no breed judge for us and on the same day as N&WPB champ show.   From memory the Dundee show used to be in June and for many years was supported by our varieties when breed judges were offered.

I wish it success but will be giving it a miss.

We had to change the date due to the park being booked already, we usually try to get breed judges when we can, but with it being the same day as NW&P, we found it difficult to get judges.

I understand it's very difficult (OK, impossible LOL) to please everyone - I hope the show is well supported and weather fine for all :)
regards, Teri

Heard lots of good things about this show so will go this year even though there's no breed class.

are there cc for the 21 breeds?
- By kenya [gb] Date 21.05.09 08:20 UTC
No, its  premier show, the best of breed in certain breeds qualifies you for crufts 2010.

I personally have only see one breed judge for my breed in 8 years but seems to be the same with so many Scottish open shows.   The shows need breed specialists and the the breed specialists need the open shows.  :-)  Not sure what the problem is.

So how is it chosen for which breeds qualify? Is is sort of like a rotation that the KC do?
Ta :)

I am sad I wont be able to attend this year but we will be away at NW&P Dundee always provide good classes for us and we usually support them well, also JH classes are good. Thank you for explaining the change of date, do you think it will go back to June next year? Hope you all have a happy and successful day.
- By kenya [gb] Date 21.05.09 12:25 UTC
Yes, were back to June next year.

Blue as a committee member of two show society's (not Dundee) the biggest problem is getting judges who will travel at there own expense to judge.  Lots of people will give you there name and say they will judge but when push comes to shove and they have got to do a couple of hundred miles travelling some decide not to bother.  One of the biggest headaches for any society is getting judges.

Shame you can't get to Dundee Jackie.  See you around somewhere.
