Hi All,

I have been reading with interest posts on pre mate tests & have decided the blood test offered by idexx sounds the best for me but I am unsure of the procedure.
Do you just speak to your vet & they arrange all of it or would I have to contact the lab direct to get the kit sent & take it with me to the vet to get the blood drawn. I have looked at the idexx web site & cannot find much help there.

Thanks in advance for your help

I get the kit from Idexx then take the vial and paperwork to my vet
who draws the blood i then fill in the contact details as mine and send special delivery.
Idexx then ring me.
I had someone do it and they gave the vets number and idexx couldnt give the owner the details as
it was down as the vet.

I'm taking my bitch to the vet for progesterone testing & the blood is sent by courier to Idexx as its not far. They then email my vet the result & he phones me (usually)! I didnt know Idexx would deal with me direct. Last time the vet told me there was a more "sophisticated" test done at Newmarket but couldnt enlighten me any further. Any ideas/experience anyone?

Idexx are brilliant. You ring them to ask for a progesterone test. They usually send about 3 kits out which contain vials, plastic bags, paperwork and stamped addressed envelopes. You take the vial to your Vet and they take the blood and transfer to the vial. Them you post off the vial, paperwork and cheque and you get a phone call the next day to say when your bitch should be ready or if too far away from ovulation they recommend another blood test. I have never had to have a third done but I have had to have a third pre-mate done at the Vets as it isn't quite as positive.

Thank you very much for your replies. I have just phoned Idexx who were extremely helpful & are sending me out the kits.
