Can anybody please confirm for me what just ch is, I understand that FCH is feild champ and SCH is show champion but not sure what just ch is.
Thanks
Most breeds become Champions (Ch) when they have received 3 CC's by 3 different judges. Gundogs and one or two other breeds (sorry, don't know which, though I know that Border Collies are one of those other breeds) also have to prove that they are capable of doing the job they were bred for. Until they do they are classed as Show Champions (Sh Ch) Once they have gained the relevan t certificate and had it confirmed by the Kennel Club they can then get rid of the Sh part of the title. They then become Champions (Ch)
Hope this helps :-)
Thanks loads for taking the time to reply. I am refering to gun dogs, I am thinking of going into showing my labs. They have loads of CH's in their pedigree so I presume that is good?
Thanks again.

Yes, if they have Ch it means the dogs are not only fantastic specimins of the breed but they can also work as a gundog and can work in a field. :)

Hi Wendy, with Labs , yes, Ch is full Champion.. this means the dogs have gained at least 3CC's in the showring, and passed their SGWC (Show Gun Working Certificate) OR wins at certain levels in Field Trials..
Thanks guys this has realy helped me to understand, i knew it was champion but just didnt know what in. What is the easiest way to get into showing, not the serious stuff just for fun?
Thanks again
I would try companion shows first. These are local fun shows, usually at game fairs, local fetes, or just held for local charities. They are normally advertised locally in pet shops, vets, some local papers and local notice boards. You can enter on the day and it only costs a couple of quid. If you then decide it's fun you can then look for a local ring craft training class. They will show you how to stand and run with your dog. They will also have details of any local shows, either limit or open shows, and will help you with filling in the forms.
