Topic Dog Boards / Showing / QUESTION ON A ENTRY FORM
- By DOGS [gb] Date 20.11.02 18:35 UTC
Hi all

I am just fillin out a entry form for a couple of shows I am entering next year but I am stuck on one of the questions. Where it says BREEDER (If owner put exh) does this mean if I have bred the dog I have to put my name, if I have not then I put the breeders name. Or does it mean If I own the dog I put my name ???????????? :)

Under breeder you put the name of your dogs breeder. Your name will go under Owner (unless you bred your dog ...but I dont think you did if I remember correctly :) )

under "breeder" put the name of your dogs' breeder. If you are the breeder then you write "exhibitor" instead. In your case, it will be the former.

thanks :)

What classes do you think I should enter to start off with, it is our first proper show, but I am not sure which classes I should enter eg: Best puppy,Best in show etc etc

Heidi,
Don't worry about those the judge will decide if you can enter those or not:-D. Start with minor puppy or puppy if elligible, if out of them I would go for a novice class if their is one. Always go for the lowest class you can esp at first.JMHO but there are others more experienced in showing who will be able to guide you.

Their is no novice classes, just classes like the one mentioned above she will be entered as a puppy she will be 11 months old by the time the show comes round. I will have to think of some classes soon as I need to send off the entry forms, any suggestions you lot :)

On the form it will say if the show is judged on the Group system.

If there are Sibe classes, what ones are there. If there are none, you will need to enter in Not Seperately Classified Working (if on Group system) or just plain NSC if not on Group system. Under these breed headings will be one or more classes you can enter.

There are also likely to be Variety classes, like Any Variety Working, or Any Variety Puppy etc.

I would advise entering say 3 classes, the lowest in each section that you are eligible for. this will give you and the dog more experience in the ring, as if you only go for one class and you are alone, or only one or two of you, then it will all be over before you find your feet.

Hi Brainless

For the sibe classes there is, junior, post graduate and open. There is also a class A.v.n.s.c working, junior and open (what does that stand for?

There is a group system, and also variety classes,

; any variety puppy stakes
;" " junior stakes
: " " open dog stakes
: " " open bitch stakes
: " " veteran
: " " brace

Which of the above do you think I should enter, and what do these classes mean?

avnsc, as it explains in the schedule if you read it thoroughly, is any variety not separately classified. As your breed appears to have classes, you are not eligible to enter these. i would enter Junior and nothing else if it were me. Stakes classes often have huge entries & are very boring/tiring for a puppy. If you were adamant you wanted to enter something else then go for the puppy stake...but there will be a huge entry if its a Championship show you are entering, less if an open show.

SAM

It is a open show, I think I will enter junior and I might enter puppy stake.

IF I did win best puppy would I have to enter another class after such as best in show or do you enter these on your own accord? :)

Dogs if you win best puppy in breed you will have an automatic right to go into the group or BPIS. So just enter the classes you would like to go into.

As it is an Open show I would enter the Junior Sibe class, and the puppy and Junior stakes. It is true they usually have quite high numbers on paper, but a lot of people withdraw or don't stay, and it is good experience.

If you go Best Puppy, or even Best of Breed, check if the judge that is doing the stakes is different from the Group judge. If it is a different person you may like to withdraw from the stakes, in order to stay unbeaten for the Puppy Group/Group. Even if it is the same judge you can withdraw, but I never see the point, as if you are going to win, then you will win the class. If you thought the pup may be too tired, then perhaps withdrawing will be an idea.

The extra classes usually only 50p to £1, and the clubs can use the extra revenue.
