Again not sure if this is the correct place for this but I have a litter of 8, 5 week old puppies. I am keeping 2 myself but someone I know in the breed who is also having one has told me not to get her pup vacced for her has her vet will do it. That is not a problem has she can come the day before for her pup. The problem is that her vet gives individual injections, not acouple of mix ones. I have never heard of this before has anyone out there ?

When you say individual ones, how many?  Also, what vaccine manufacturer, as they are both different.  My vet uses the one that produces 70% of the UK vaccine.  However, there was recently a problem with supply.  He immediately stockpiled the other manufacturers vaccine, and the regime was different.  Happened to me because I kept a pup back for myself too.

The main one gives a jab with a 2 week interval before the second.  Then another 2 weeks before pup can go outside.

I had my pup vaccinated - with a 3 week interval.  Then on my second visit, she had 2 jabs.  Was able to go out after one week.

I'm guessing that your puppy buyer uses a vet with a different vaccine than the one you're used to.  So, no problem with her vet, just a different make of vaccine.  Hope that explains things.

Just to add if the other 5 pups have homes and you are having the first inocultion done before wasting your money and also the pup going through three injections, I would ask those people to check which vaccine their vets use as otherwise your having the first part of the injection done for nothing as their vets will start all over again. :-)

This in one of the few reasons many breeders do not have 1st vaccinations done before pups go to new homes... most of us prefer pups to settle into new homes for a few days before going through the stress of vaccinations..

Is there any particular reason why you are getting the 1st Vacs done?

Another thing to consider on the vaccinations situation is . The vaccination's you use might not be the same as other puppy buyers vets use .. I bought a pup with first vac , but my vet still charged me the price of a normal vaccination.......

I am not getting all the puppies, injected only the 2 i am keeping. The others will go a week before vacs are due. I am only keeping this one for an extra week because the new owner is going to look after her Mother how is having an op at the start of next week . I just want my pups done asap. I only use nobivac and this is what all the other pups owners, vets use apart from this one. I will ask what make and how many injection it will be

My breeder get my pup on for me and extra week and she got the 1st vac done because of the same situation as well.
My vets said that they didn't use the same brand, so all i did was ring around some local vets and got the second jab at a different practice, not difficult to do. Also your vet can send her vet the 2nd innoculation, which also occurred to the other boy who stayed on with the breeder for an extra week.

So there are ways around it, means more work for the new puppy owner, but not a huge amount.
